A longtime broadcaster has predicted that the next NFL Christmas game could be sold to a streaming platform.

Boomer Esiason no longer covers the league for CBS but is still in the know and is still going strong on his podcast.

The former NFL quarterback shared some information on WFAN’s “Morning Show with Boomer & Gio” this Wednesday, saying it wouldn’t shock him if the NFL Christmas game were to head to Netflix.

“Are you ready for this? This is what I think is going to happen. Could be wrong, but I don’t think I am,” he said. “Do not be surprised if the NFL and Netflix get in bed for a nice little Christmas Day football games. I would not be surprised.”

Netflix has been dabbling in live events lately, dropping two this past weekend. Katt Williams’ ‘Woke Foke’ aired live on the platform on Saturday night, with Tom Brady’s roast launched the following night. They’re also set to be the home of WWE Raw as of January 2025.

Meanwhile, the league has been in the streaming game for a while, having partnered with Amazon Prime for ‘Thursday Night Football’ and selling a playoff game to Peacock last season.

This Year Would Be Perfect For A Netflix Christmas Day Game

Christmas is set to fall on a Wednesday this year, but there will still be an NFL Christmas game, which could present the perfect opportunity for the league to stream a game on Netflix.

The platform has a vast subscriber base worldwide, and, as Esiason points out, the NFL would love to tap into it.

In any case, the 2024 NFL regular season schedule will be released next Wednesday. We should know a lot more by then.
