Carmelo Anthony hung up his boots in 2022 after a legendary 19-year career in the NBA. But as it seems, the league won’t have to wait for much longer to see his heir take the court by storm, just like Kiyan Anthony is doing in the NBPA Top 100 camp.

The 17-year-old is currently competing in the prestigious camp in Florida, where he recently scored 42 points in a game. In the three games he has played, Kiyan is averaging 33.3 points, and social media took notice of Anthony Jr.’s astonishing feat.

The nostalgic hoop lovers who grew up watching his father running riot on the hardwood soon turned up to cheer for young Kiyan. In a recent X (formerly known as Twitter) post by BR Hoops, fans showed their appreciation and amazement for Kiyan. Here are some of the comments below:

An optimistic fan wrote, “This kid is the one.”

Another fan added,

“coming back to reclaim his fathers legacy in the NBA. real ones know Carmelo was difffffffferent.”

Someone compared Kiyan with LeBron James’ sons, “Bro better then Bronny and Bryce he need to be the one we hyping up.”

“Just like his dad only care about a bucket,” wrote a fan.

While some pointed out the high number of shot attempts to get to the point tally, the only thing that matters at the end of the day is the final number on the scoreboard. Kiyan has certainly shown his promise at a tender age and is attracting a lot of eyes from around the elite college teams.

Kiyan Anthony Attracting Interest From College Sides

As Kiyan Anthony is busy leaving a lasting mark on the visiting scouts and head coaches from the college basketball scene, his interest keeps rising. As of the time of writing, Kiyan Anthony already has offers from 19 different colleges, with the latest one coming on June 7 from the Ohio State Buckeyes.

According to 247Sports, the 6’5″ guard is ranked 9th in his class and marked as a 4-star prospect. His most recent visits were at the back end of last year when he visited the Syracuse Orange and Florida State Seminoles.

Carmelo Anthony has been a close observer of his son’s progress in recent years. When asked about what they talk about, the 10-time NBA All-Star revealed, “We talk about the specifics and the foundation of basketball.”

Kiyan Anthony previously soaked in the charged atmosphere of the NBA games and is no stranger to the rigorous demands of the league. He is still way off from reaching the high standards set by his father, but the progress on display provides a lot of encouragement as the league awaits another superstar.
