The French national men’s basketball team has been dominant with its size thanks to Victor Wembanyama and Rudy Gobert protecting the paint. A photo showing the two 7-footers standing next to each other has fans perplexed at the height of the San Antonio Spurs’ young star.

Victor Wembanyama is listed at 7-foot-4 in his rookie season, while Gobert, the 2023-24 Defensive Player of the Year, is listed at 7-foot-1. Featuring the two giants, France has kicked off their warmup games ahead of the Paris Olympics in dominant fashion.

A photo of them side-by-side along with other members of Team France has fans stunned at Victor Wembanyama towering over Gobert. X (formerly Twitter) user @NickSenz said:

Some wondered if the incoming NBA sophomore could still grow taller as he is only 20 years old.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s still growing,” X (formerly Twitter) user @jtbucketsss said.

“Wemby might still be growing,” added @SoyRayadomty00.

User @spomuse said it’s rare to see someone make Gobert look small.

“Making someone who’s 7’1 look small is insane,” he said.

Seeing the two side-by-side had @franklinisbored looking at how their careers could play similarly and win the same accolades.

“The reigning and future DPOY,” he said.

Draymond Green shares excitement for Chris Paul-Victor Wembanyama pairing in San Antonio

One of the most impactful moves of the offseason was made by the San Antonio Spurs, who paired Rookie of the Year Victor Wembanyama with Chris Paul, one of the greatest minds in basketball history.

Paul was waived by the Golden State Warriors and was quickly picked up by the Spurs to give the team a veteran leader and a trusty point guard next to Wembanyama.

On The Draymond Green Show on Tuesday, Draymond Green shared his excitement on how his former teammate could help the Spurs.

“CP with [Popovich], who’s still a genius. Pairing CP with Wemby to teach that young fella. CP one of the greatest vets I’ve ever been around,” Green said.

“It’ll be great for Wemby. And the young fella [Stephon] Castle. …That is a genius move by the Spurs, man.”

Adding Paul, who has established himself as a culture-setter after mentoring Shai Gilgeous-Alexander during his time with the OKC Thunder and Devin Booker with the Phoenix Suns, could pay off dividends for the Spurs and unlock Wembanyama’s other skills.
