The Edmonton Oilers are on the verge of having to pay three of their biggest stars Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and Evan Bouchard and a new report has confirmed what it will cost.

The Edmonton Oilers are in the Stanley Cup Finals with a chance to win the best trophy in all of sports. With this in mind, GM Ken Holland still needs to keep one eye on the future. Leon Draisaitl will be heading into the final year of his contract and Connor McDavid and Evan Bouchard are both up for extensions soon.

Frank Seravalli reveals the price for the Oilers to keep Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl

In a new report NHL insider Frank Seravalli spoke about the future of the Edmonton Oilers. During his team covering the topic he confirmed it will take a massive comittment to sign all three.

According to Frank Seravalli’s report Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and Evan Bouchard could take up nearly 40 million dollars in cap space with their extensions.

Frank Seravalli dropped a bomb recently, predicting the Edmonton Oilers’ “big three” will have $40 million invested into them by the team. He predicts that Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and Evan Bouchard will all get max-term deals, worth the following:

McDavid: $16 Million AAV

Draisaitl: $14 Million AAV
Bouchard: $10 Million AAV

This is a staggering number considering the current salary cap is only 83 million dollars. This would mean half of the Edmonton Oilers salary cap would go to three players. However, Frank Seravalli says the Oilers should not worry as the salary cap is expected to skyrocket in upcoming years.

Seravalli also explained he believes the salary cap will be up to about $100 Million within two seasons, giving the Oilers the flexibility to do this for all three players.

The Edmonton Oilers will still need to be careful building their roster around their three-star pieces but doing the extensions now is a must. If Ken Holland waits the Oilers could lose out on a lot of flexibility going forward. If they do it right the Oilers could become unstoppable.
