New York Yankees Pitchers Ian Hamilton & Cody Poteet

The New York Yankees have been the latest team hit by the injury bug. After rumors of their ace Gerrit Cole being activated on Wednesday, the club sent two more arms down to the IL.

Ian Hamilton has been placed on the IL with a right lat strain and will not throw for three to four weeks. Cody Poteet is the other arm moved to the IL with a right triceps strain.

This is just the latest blow for the club after they announced Anthony Rizzo would miss significant time. The slugger fractured his right arm and could miss the next four to six weeks. However, the injury does not require surgery.

Fans are starting to get worried for a team that was hindered by injuries last season. Injuries to Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton and others last year caused the club to miss the postseason for the first time since 2016.

“We got it bad rn” – another fan posted.

“Do not understand how this team just casually starts breaking down every season piece by piece” – posted another.

Injuries are even hurting this team in the minors. Top prospect Jasson Dominguez injured himself on a check swing over the weekend and was placed on the seven-day IL.

“And per usual we are scrapping for arms” – said another fan.

“When it rains it pours i guess… not ideal” – said another.

“And so it begins” – said another.

It will be some time before Hamilton and Poteet can return. Fans will want to keep their eyes open for future updates surrounding the duo.

With the injury to Anthony Rizzo, the Yankees selected the contract of first baseman/catcher Ben Rice. He is scheduled to make his MLB debut on Tuesday against the Baltimore Orioles.

To cover for Cody Poteet and Ian Hamilton, the club called up left-handed pitchers Clayton Andrews and Anthony Misiewicz. All three players were also added to the 40-man roster.

While this is not ideal, the Bronx Bombers are one team that can afford a few injuries. They hold the best record in the big leagues and have seen nearly their entire roster exceed expectations this year.
