Now, the cause for that absence has been revealed. His brother and mother came out accusing his girlfriend Caitlin Hutchison of brainwashing the Duke standout. The Duke star’s brother Daniel Filipowski replied to ESPN talking about his girlfriend’s situation causing him to drop from the 1st round.

The mother’s tweet somewhat indicates that the relationship started during Kyle’s high school days. Another account shared a collage of these tweets, suggesting the 20-year-old had cut off ties with his family. But to this, Daniel Filipowski came back with a reply to clear the confusion.

No sir.. you got it backwards. She forced him to cut us off from his life almost two years ago. Sent us an email and everything. Basically, the official “goodbye letter.”

Teams found it odd that a 20-year-old had become estranged from his family. Getting engaged to someone eight years older before completing high school was also concerning. Teams were concerned that his family situation could have an impact on his performance.
