In a recent interview with Geoff Grammer of the Albuquerque Journal, Snell revealed his motivation for seeking another opportunity in the NBA.
“I didn’t make it this far to make it (just) this far,” Snell said.
Snell’s desire to return to the NBA is not just about adding another season to his career but also securing essential healthcare benefits for his family. The NBA pension benefits kick in for players after three seasons, but comprehensive healthcare coverage, which includes support for spouses and children, becomes available only after a player’s 10th season.
“I’m really trying to get that 10th year to take care of my family for life,” Snell added.
The healthcare benefits associated with a 10th NBA season would significantly help him manage his son’s needs and ensure his family’s well-being.
Tony Snell’s NBA Career Highlights
