JULY 16 JELLYBEAN PASSES AWAY Joe “Jellybean” Bryant has died at age 69. He played eight NBA seasons for the Philadelphia 76ers, San Diego Clippers, and Houston Rockets.

Much like the San Antonio Spurs, the elder Byrant was at the forefront of bringing the NBA game international. After his NBA playing career, he played and coached in Italy, France, Japan, and Thailand, as well as in the WNBA.

JULY 15 RICHARD JEFFERSON DOES IT HIS WAY The Men’s USA Basketball team, despite the star power riddled throughout the roster, isn’t as strong as needed. Former San Antonio Spurs forward Richard Jefferson created a starting lineup to help mesh the star-heavy roster and take advantage of Team USA’s length.

McDermott, 32, and Green, 37, have both shot over 40 percent from three throughout their long NBA careers. Green has hinted at wanting to continue his career, and McDermott is on our list of possible free-agent targets for the San Antonio Spurs.

JULY 15 MILLS AND LANDALE LOSE As a part of preparation for the Paris Olympics, Team USA took on Australia in Abu Dhabi. The Americans won, 98-92. Former San Antonio Spurs Jock Landale and Patty Mills both started for Australia. Landale posted 20 points and seven rebounds, while Mills scored five points on poor shooting.

The US was led by 17 points off the bench from Anthony Davis.
