Some fans took to social media to note the timing of Bobrovsky’s poor start. The Panthers have never won the Stanley Cup in their history. In fact, this is the first time they have been within a single win of winning it. This certainly adds more salt to the wound if you are a Florida fan, coach, or player.

“Great, another goalie getting yanked on a night when his team needed him to be a wall. Sergei’s having an okay season, but this one’s gonna sting for a while,” one fan wrote on social media on Saturday night.

Another fan called into question whether Panthers players are mentally checked into the game. They pointed out that this contest is being played in Edmonton. And they wondered if Florida players subconsciously wanted to win the Stanley Cup in front of their home fans.
