On Sunday, NBA fans were shocked by recent activity on the social media account of an NBA legend. The surprising part is that the legendary player passed away two years ago. Bill Russell, widely considered the greatest of all time, passed away on July 31, 2022.
However, his social media account on X (formerly known as Twitter) is still active. On Sunday, Russell’s account posted “Let’s Go Celtics” after the Celtics won Game 2 of the NBA Finals Series.
Everyone was astonished after seeing the post, and Russell’s fans reacted humorously in the comment section. One fan made a lighthearted comment, saying, “Aren’t you supposed to be with God right now, sir?”
Another fan wrote a funny comment, “How’d you sneak a phone in the grave you cheeky boy.”
A third fan said, “Man hit tweet from beyond the grave. He wasn’t missing this run.“
Meanwhile, another fan praised the Celtics and said, “See, even God wants the Celtics to win!”
Another fan poked fun and said, “Go back to sleep they already retired your number before Jordans (blasphemy) we don’t want to hear from you.”
Russell’s account, another post, cleared up confusion
When 183.9k followers were stunned and started asking how it happened, a new reply to the tweet in the comment section cleared all the fans’ doubts. It was revealed that Bill Russell’s widow, Jeannine Russell, was the person behind all this drama. She admitted that she wrote the post and caused confusion among the fans.
“To everyone who has reached out to this post. This is Bill’s wife. Please stay tuned for some exciting announcements on Building my husband’s legacy and other amazing projects. Another great win tonight for the Celtics Brown or Holiday #BillRussellMVPFinalsAward.” Russell’s wife wrote.
