In a shocking display, Edmonton Oilers fans disrespected the US National Anthem to taunt Panthers goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky ahead of Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals.

The Stanley Cup Finals between Edmonton and Florida have been incredibly intense. After a near sweep by the Panthers, the Oilers saw a massive comeback in Game 4, winning 8-1.

“The Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe Trophy are leaving the arena as Edmonton makes it 8-1”

Both teams are now in Game 6 with fans feeling the pressure just as much as the players. With the series tied 3-2, Edmonton Oilers fans took their opportunity to taunt Florida Panthers goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky during the US National Anthem.

“Oilers fans were chanting ‘SERGEI’ so loud they covered up the US National anthem

Disrespect, or passionate fans?

Though the period is not yet over, Florida fans watching from home have already expressed distaste for this act of disrespect. Many suspect this will be what Bobrovsky and his fellow Panthers need to take down the Oilers in the next two games.

The Oilers and Panthers are now in the last five minutes of the first period of Game 6. Edmonton is leading 1-0 after Warren Foegele scored the first goal of the game. Hopefully for Florida, Sergei Bobrovsky can get back to the top of his game and close the series and win the Stanley Cup tonight.
