The Detroit Red Wings have made a pair of trades that involve passing around a top pick and moving out a key defenseman.

The Red Wings traded prospect RHD Andrew Gibson to the Nashville Predators in exchange for W Jesse Kiiskinen and a 2024 second round pick (53rd overall).

Gibson, 19, was selected 42nd in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft by the Detroit Red Wings. He had 12 goals, 32 assists & 44 points in 68 games for the OHL Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds this past season.

Kiiskinen, 19 was selected 68th by Nashville in the 2023 Draft. He had 4 goals, 6 assists & 10 points in 36 games in the Finnish top division for the Lahti Pelicans.

In a second move announced a little over an hour later, the Red Wings traded the pick acquired from Nashville along with defenseman Jake Walman to the San Jose Sharks for Future Considerations.

Walman, 28, had 12 goals, 9 assists & 21 points in 63 games for the Red Wings this past season. Walman is owed $3.4M for the next two season and has a modified no-trade clause.
