Dallas Cowboys superstar wide receiver CeeDee Lamb has become the subject of trade rumors over the past 24 hours, following eyebrow-raising comments from owner Jerry Jones about his contract status.

CeeDee Lamb, entering the final year of his rookie deal, is holding out in hopes of getting a contract extension. But on Thursday, Jones told reporters that he feels no “urgency” to get the deal done, per The Athletic’s Jon Machota.

It was certainly odd for Jones to admit that publicly, especially with the 2024 regular season less than a month away. So naturally, you can’t help but wonder if Lamb will end up hitting the trade block.

The FanDuel sportsbook proposed a blockbuster trade idea in which the Cowboys would send Lamb to the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for star wideout Rashee Rice and 2025 and 2026 first-round picks:

CeeDee Lamb is a top-five receiver in football and only 25 years of age, so he would likely cost at least two first-round picks in a trade. Or, another team would have to swap another superstar-level receiver (Cincinnati Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase is also holding out) to get him.

Lamb is coming off a career year in which he tallied a league-leading 135 receptions for 1,749 yards and 10 touchdowns. He has exceeded 1,000 yards receiving in each of the last three years.

CeeDee Lamb In Kansas City Would Be Completely Unfair

The Chiefs won the Super Bowl last year with a mediocre receiving core. They have since added Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown and Texas speedster Xavier Worthy to help All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce.

So imagine if Lamb joined an offense with the league’s best quarterback (Patrick Mahomes) and tight end (Kelce) with the best coach in football (Andy Reid). Mahomes and the Chiefs wouldn’t quite go undefeated (20-0), but they would sure be almost unbeatable.
