Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese show support for Cameron Brink after suffering season-ending ACL tear

Rookie sensation Cameron Brink made every WNBA fan’s heart stop as they watched her being carried off the floor. The fans hoped for the best as they waited for news regarding the rookie. The Los Angeles Sparks then came out with the dreaded news that their star rookie had torn her ACL, effectively ending the season for her.

Fellow rookies Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese came out in support. As soon as the Los Angeles Sparks released the news, Angel Reese was one of the first to react to the news. She sent out a heartwarming message through her official Instagram account.

I pray God wraps his hands around you & heals you back even better! Love you my Barbie doll.

After this, before tonight’s game, Indiana Fever rookie superstar Caitlin Clark was asked for a reaction to the news. Clark praised Brink and believed the injury would make her better in the long run.

It just breaks your heart. She’s such a good basketball player but an even better person. I'm sure she's overwhelmed by the support right now and she definitely deserves it. Knowing the type of person she is, this will only make her better in the long run.

Cameron Brink went down in yesterday’s game against the Connecticut Sun while driving to the basket. She was grimacing with pain and needed help from her teammates to get up on her feet. As she walked off the floor, she limped and needed the team’s trainers to carry her to the locker room.

This season-ending injury stops her development as a professional player. More importantly, it curtails the team chemistry that was building with Brink and fellow rookie Rickea Jackson starting. The bad news for Brink does not end there, as she will miss the Paris Olympics as well.

Cameron Brink set to miss Paris Olympics

With this season-ending injury, it also ends her chances of going to Paris for the Olympics. Cameron Brink was an integral part of Team USA’s 3×3 basketball team. Her length and shot-blocking were crucial in their bid to continue winning gold. However, now they will have to look for replacements.

The options are also limited, considering how FIBA ranks players. Team USA has guards ready, but they need a player of the right size. A possible option is Brink’s Los Angeles Sparks teammate, Dearica Hamby. Other than her All-Star teammate, Atlanta Dream’s Allisha Gray and Indiana Fever teammates Aliyah Boston and Katie Lou Samuelson are touted as replacements.

Cameron Brink was crucial in helping the WNBA play out their transformational year. Her stunning looks, tunnel fits, and elite basketball skills were drawing crowds more than ever. Now instead, she will focus on recovery to come back stronger next season.
