Ruth Langsford has shared a health update on her and Eamonn Holmes’ beloved dog Maggie as he is reportedly ‘set to lose custody’ over the pet amid their ‘nasty’ divorce.

The TV icon, 64, informed her Instagram followers that the adorable Border Collie cross was recovering from a surgery.

She wrote, “Maggie had a wart removed this morning under sedation, so she’s feeling sorry for herself this afternoon! Thanks @stgeorgesveterinarycentre for caring for our girl.”

Ruth accompanied it with a heartmelting clip of Maggie – who is 14 – coming out of the veterinary room and then some more bits as she cuddled her at home.

The Loose Women alum adopted the pooch with her ex husband Eamonn, 64, back in 2011 as Maggie is said to be as a ‘second child’ to them.

Maggie is like a daughter to them. They dote on her. But she’s getting on and they know she needs stability,’ a source told The Sun.

‘It’s a case of who can give her that. Eamonn adores her and Maggie’s been such a support during his health woes. The thought of giving her up is heartbreaking to him.

‘But if Ruth is able to get out and about and walk her more, then it may well be that she gets Maggie in the split.’

The source added the former couple aims for a reasonable deal-breaker ‘without getting any lawyers involved’.

MailOnline have contacted Ruth and Eamonn’s reps for comment.

The Loose Women presenter and the broadcaster announced their plans to divorce in May after 14 years of marriage and 27 years together.

Since then it’s been reported Eamonn had grown close to a younger female friend over the past year who he has been on a ‘string of outings with’, with Ruth said to be ‘devastated’ when she discovered ‘messages from another woman’ on his laptop.

Her busy work week comes as she has been taking an extended break from Loose Women amid the separation, but is set to return this month.

It comes after it was revealed that Ruth had decided to take time off work after learning that Eamonn hasn’t been alone in his sorrows following their split, as he is being consoled by two blonde beauties.

The GB News presenter has been helped through his troubles by relationship counsellor Katie Alexander and aesthetician Lisa Harris.

Divorcee and mother-of-three Katie has grown close to the star after a ‘string of outings’ together, and has reportedly said she is ‘in it for the long haul.’

A source previously told The Mirror: ‘She is helping Eamonn through the tough times but doesn’t want to be seen as a marriage wrecker.

‘The friendship has grown in recent months but Eamonn’s marriage has been over for some time.’

The insider added: ‘She wants to help Eamonn with his situation and their friendship has grown over a period of time. She feels she will be close to him for a long period and is in this for the long haul.’

Katie has been seen visiting Eamonn at his rented apartment in South West London from her home in Yorkshire.

The pair reportedly struck up a friendship over the past couple of years and the publication claims Eamonn has taken her on a safari park trip, to a Manchester United game and a Beyoncé concert.

While his friendship with Katie is not said to be a reason for the marriage breakdown it is understood that Ruth was unaware of her until recently and has decided to take time off work.

A source told The Sun: ‘Ruth was obviously aware that her marriage was crumbling, but as details emerge, her upset has turned to anger.

‘Eamonn’s friend is bowled over by being lavished with attention and kindness from him.’

The pair met via Twitter after the woman commented on a post and it sparked a conversation between the pair.

Friends explained that the woman’s counselling skills include coping with ‘feeling sad’ and ‘separation and divorce’ therefore it seems fitting she will be supporting Eamonn at this time of uncertainty.

While MailOnline revealed Eamonn has also been seeking comfort from his facialist and friend Lisa, whom he and Ruth have known for years.

A friend of Eamonn’s told MailOnline that Lisa has been a ‘shoulder to cry on’ for him and said: ‘Lisa has been there to support him during marriage problems in the past few years. They’ve even been out recently together.

‘She’s grown close to him and been there to offer a shoulder to cry on during the past few years whilst his marriage to Ruth has fell apart.’
