Ruth Langsford has finally opened up about why she still wears her wedding ring: ‘I want Eamonn to understand that this marriage isn’t something he can just end on a whim. He has to make amends for what his mistress has done to our son!’

Eagle-eyed fans noticed that Ruth Langsford is still wearing her wedding ring, despite announcing her split from Eamonn Holmes.

The former couple, both 64, confirmed they were in the process of divorcing after 14 years of marriage.

Despite their breakup, Ruth has been pictured smiling in recent snaps, with her wedding band still firmly on her finger.

Banker turned heartbreak coach Manj Bahra spoke to Express.co.uk about the potential reasons why Ruth is yet to part ways with her ring.

Suggesting the presenter just simply isn’t ready.

Manj, who has coached more than 500 people through breakups, began: “We can only speculate as to why Ruth is still wearing her ring.

“One way we can think about this is understanding what a ring represents – commitment to a significant other. After 14 years of marriage, it’s possible Ruth finds removing the ring too large a step right now as it represents such finality in a sense.”

The relationship coach added: “It would be an acknowledgment to herself and the public about what was and what no longer is – and that can be incredibly difficult.”

He concluded the statement: “Perhaps she is simply not ready.” It comes after Eamonn appeared to take a swipe at his ex after winning a TRIC Award. The awards ceremony,

Eamonn’s presence at the ceremony, which took place on Tuesday (June 25), was his first public appearance since his split from Ruth was announced.

The GB News host used a walking aid as he headed on stage to collect the gong for Best Breakfast Show alongside his co-host Isabel Webster.

As he collected the award and addressed the audience, the former This Morning star said: “I went for an operation a year and a half ago and it went wrong. So I got two things in my back that I didn’t want, so why not, I’ll happily accept this.”

It is believed Eamonn was referring to Ruth as well as the operation he had on his back. Eamonn underwent spinal surgery in 2022 after enduring chronic back pain for years. He also had a double-hip replacement in 2016.

Eamonn was also up for Best News Presenter alongside Nigel Farage, Susanna Reid and Matt Chorley. The broadcaster didn’t come out on top, however, as Reform party leader Farage took home the gong for the second year running.
