While the singer gave a touching acceptance speech that mentioned many of her loved ones, there was one important person she left out – her dad Billy Ray Cyrus.

At the awards ceremony, which was held in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 4, eight artists found themselves nominated for Record of the Year, yet only Miley Cyrus emerged as the victor — a moment marked by what seemed like a familial snub during her acceptance speech.

Miley’s Acceptance Speech Mentioned Everyone But Her Dad

Acknowledging her “mommy” Tish Cyrus, her sister Brandi Cyrus, and her “love” Maxx Morando, Miley expressed her gratitude while accepting the award for her track “Flowers.”

However, she gave no similar shout-out to her father and fellow musician, Billy Ray.

Miley went on to voice her appreciation for the award while also hoping that it wouldn’t dramatically change her outlook on life. “Thank you all so much.

This award is amazing. But I really hope that it does not change anything. Because my life was beautiful yesterday,” she said.

She also extended her acknowledgments to the song’s cowriters and producers, Thomas “Kid Harpoon” Hull, Michael Pollack, Brian Rajaratnam, and Mark “Spike” Stent.

“Not everyone in the world will get a Grammy, but everyone in this world is spectacular,” Miley went on. “So please don’t think that this is important — Even though it’s very important, right, guys?

We are very excited. I want to thank everyone who is standing on the stage.”

The former Disney star’s speech concluded with a lighthearted remark about possibly forgetting her underwear, injecting a moment of humor into the evening’s proceedings.

“I don’t think I forgot anyone, but I might have forgotten underwear. Bye,” the Hannah Montana alum concluded.

Billy Ray Cyrus Married A Wolman 28 Years Younger Than Him

After the seeming snub, some fans took to social media to theorize what it could mean, with some pointing out that Miley’s recent display of support for her mother’s relationship with Dominic Purcell over her father’s marriage to Firerose, who is notably younger than Billy Ray.

The dynamics within the Cyrus family came under scrutiny, particularly as Miley, and her siblings Brandi and Trace attended Tish and Purcell’s wedding last fall, though her younger sister and brother Noah Cyrus and Braison Cyrus were absent.
