A FORMER singer with pop group Spandau Ballet filmed himself raping and molesting sleeping women, a court has heard.

Ross Davidson — known to fans as Ross Wild — is also said to have forced himself on a victim when she refused to have sex six times a night.

A jury heard that Davidson, 36, had a deviant desire to have sex with women while they were asleep and many did not know they had been filmed until shown the shocking footage by police.

He is accused of rape and sex offences against five women from 2013 until 2023.

Davidson wore a light grey suit and pink shirt for the opening of his trial at London’s Wood Green crown court on Tuesday afternoon.

Prosecutor Richard Hearnden described the Scottish singer as “a bit of a sex symbol’’ but said he also had “a darker side”.

It is because he expects to get sex on demand that he will resort to rape and sexual assault if he is not given what he thinks he deserves

He told jurors Davidson starred in the West End musical We Will Rock You and had joined Spandau Ballet in 2018 after lead singer Tony Hadley left.

Referring to him by his stage name, Mr Hearnden said: “Wild was a bit of a sex symbol.

“He is very good looking and physically fit.

“He sings, plays the guitar and is said to be charming and charismatic.

“His darker side is not the first thing that many women and girls notice about him.

“But the women in this case can all attest to that sinister part of his personality.

“For it is alleged he has raped and sexually assaulted a number of young women.’’

Davidson is said to have secretly filmed himself raping the first woman after an argument at his flat in Finchley, North London, in October 2013.

Mr Hearnden said the defence would argue the sex attack was role-play with the woman looking like a rape victim.

Davidson is said to have filmed himself fondling a second woman’s breasts.

The prosecutor said: “According to the complainant, the defendant said he had a particular fantasy.

“He said it was his fantasy, his desire, to have sex with a woman while she was asleep.”

A third woman was allegedly sexually assaulted and filmed as she slept while at the Cannes Film Festival in the south of France.

Davidson is accused of filming a fourth woman committing a sex act on him without her consent and later raping her.

Mr Hearnden said: “She was being used as some sort of sexual slave.

“He wanted to have sexual intercourse five or six times a night.

“When she said it was too much, he forced her to have sex.”

The fifth victim is said to have woken to find Davidson having sex with her.

When arrested in 2021 he said all sex was consensual.

Davidson, on conditional bail, denies three rapes, three sex assaults, voyeurism, intimidation and controlling behaviour.

The trial continues.
