Alan Ritchson’s physique is undeniably impressive. The star of Reacher has openly discussed how he transformed his body from 205 to 235lbs for his role as Jack Reacher in the Prime Video series.
Interestingly, he revealed that achieving his lean physique and chiseled abs didn’t involve extreme calorie restrictions or grueling training sessions. Surprisingly, Ritchson doesn’t deprive himself of food either, showing a balanced and sustainable approach to fitness.

During his interview with The Rich Eisen Show, Ritchson divulged his fitness strategy, emphasizing that he adopts a long-term perspective. Having dedicated himself to training consistently for the past 20 years, he believes that every day can be treated as a cheat day because of his unwavering commitment to fitness.
Alan Ritchson Likes To Keep It Simple
In a prior interview with Men’s Health UK, the Fast X star revealed his preferred workout routine, which consists of five straightforward bodyweight exercises.
Alan Ritchson shared that for the past two decades, his workout routine has remained consistent. He described how he runs to the nearest park, engaging in press-ups, pull-ups, dips, and sit-ups. In between, he sprints, and then he runs back home.

“For 20 years all I’ve ever done is this routine where I will run to whatever park is near me and do press-ups, pull-ups, dips and sit-ups. I sprint in between and then I run home,” says Ritchson.
“I was prepubescent at 17 and had no hair… I still remember this dude in the cafeteria one day when I wore shorts. He was like ‘Ritchson doesn’t have any hair on his legs.’ That is the last time I’ve worn shorts publicly.”
During the interview with Eisen, Ritchson revealed the real reason behind starting that particular workout in the first place.
Alan Ritchson Wants To Push His Limits
Ritchson explained that he wanted to challenge himself, so he committed to doing the same workout every day for a year, regardless of weather or weekends. He diligently worked out at a specific set of monkey bars, engaging in push-ups, pull-ups, dips, and sit-ups, and made the effort to run to the location every single day.

“I wanted to force the issue, so I went every day for one year – Saturdays, Sundays, rain, snow. I never missed a day. I worked out at this set of monkey bars – push-ups, pull-ups, dips and sit-ups. I ran to it every day for a year.” Ritchson said.
The fruits of Ritchson’s labor are evident, leading him to dismiss the notion of cheat days and doubt the impossibility of achieving fitness goals. He firmly believes that with dedication and a long-term approach, anyone can attain their desired level of fitness.
