Undoubtedly, good things await with dragons ahead
One of the most popular animated film series of recent times is now to be remade with real actors, i.e. as live-action.
We have seen this trend several times from Disney, who in recent years has produced new versions of e.g. Beauty and the Beast , Mulan and The Little Mermaid .
Now the film studio DreamWorks is following suit. They are planning a live-action version of the successful animated films ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ from 2010, 2014 and 2019.
That ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ will be remade is no surprise, but we didn’t expect Butler to be on board again.
Mason Thames and Nico Parker are set to play Hiccup and Astrid, respectively, who were voiced by Jay Baruchel and America Ferrera in the animated films.
It is perhaps not entirely wrong that they have chosen new actors in the roles of Hiccup and Astrid, since the age in a live-action version is against the two original actors.
Dean DeBlois will direct, write and produce the film. Three roles he also took on the three original animated films.
The live-action version of How to Train Your Dragon is currently set to hit theaters on June 13, 2025.
