Reacher star Alan Ritchson seemingly confirms which Lee Child novel will be adapted into the upcoming third season of the Prime Video series.
Reacher star Alan Ritchson may have just revealed that Season 3 of the Prime Video series will adapt the Lee Child novel Persuader.
The actor recently shared a photo of a lobster on his Instagram account, with the caption, “Details matter Season 3 of #Reacher… especially at crafty.
“ While he noted that the food is from craft services, several fans began to theorize in the comments that the lobster was a nod to the seventh Jack Reacher novel, Persuader, which is largely set in Maine, a state known for its lobsters.
Furthermore, Ritchson began to reply to comments on the post, dismissing those who mentioned other novels like Tripwire while offering cryptic teases and winking emojis to those who mentioned Persuader.
What Do Fans Know So Far About Reacher Season 3?
Production has already begun on Reacher Season 3, which was secretly greenlit ahead of the show’s Season 2 premiere last year. Ritchson previously teased that it will be another self-contained story, with fans getting “to enjoy Reacher in a new world.”
Child, who is an executive producer on Reacher, recently teased the third season while refusing to outright say which novel had been picked, only revealing that he thinks it was “a good choice, I gotta say. I think we’ve been very creative about how we’ve sequenced the type of story.”
Despite Ritchson being interested in bringing the 110th back for Season 3, Child confirmed that Reacher will be largely on his own for his next adventure.
“We felt we needed a book that was more Reacher alone for the third season,” Child explained regarding this creative decision, believing that “it was a question of which story would work best for that, and which one would have a great opening scene and all of that, and we found one that we loved.”
Reacher Isn’t Dad TV
With Reacher not afraid to give an old-school beatdown, the Prime Video series has occasionally been labeled “peak Dad TV,” a term given to shows whose demographic is largely made up of middle-aged men.
However, Ritchson is not a fan of the label, noting that he finds it “weird.” After sharing that he let his kids watch Reacher Season 1 — “but I wouldn’t let them see the naked guy hanging crucified on the wall” — Ritchson explained that he views the show more as “family TV” than “Dad TV.”
He added, “I walk down the street and little ladies on their walkers are like [adopts the voice of a decrepit old woman] ‘Reacher… Reacher…’ It’s such a misnomer to me to qualify this as ‘Dad TV’. But I am a father and I, too, love the show. Maybe it does work.”
