SUMMARY

Alan Ritchson hopes to see familiar faces from Jack Reacher’s past in season 3, wanting to reunite with his old allies.
Reacher has already brought back characters from previous seasons, breaking Lee Child’s rule of not having an established team.
Although there may be cameos or guest stars in season 3, the show will primarily focus on a solo narrative for Jack after his reunion with the 110th Special Investigations Unit.

Alan Ritchson wants some familiar faces when Jack Reacher returns for a new adventure in Reacher season 3. Two years after the events of Margrave, Jack reunited with Frances Neagley and their former military teammates to investigate the death of fellow 110th Special Investigations Unit member Cal Franz. Despite the predicament, the reunion was a great way for Jack to catch up with his old squad, but given his commitment to his hobo lifestyle, the hero eventually parted ways to continue his journey to see the country. The series takes this anthology-type storytelling from its source material — Lee Child’s books.

In an interview with Variety, Ritchson shared that he would like to break that trend in his Prime Video show and see Jack reunite with his old allies again in Reacher season 3. Read his full quote below:

“By the time people get to the end [of the season], they’re going to be saying, ‘Seasons 1 and 2 are so good, but where can he go from here?’ I want to see more of the 110th. How are we gonna get them in? We’ll have all the same problems all over again for season 3, I’m sure.”

Will Any Season 1 Or 2 Characters Return For Reacher Season 3?

Although Reacher will stay true to its inspiration by not giving Jack an established team that follows him around, it has already broken Child’s rule when bringing back characters.

After her introduction in season 1, Neagley returned for a much bigger role in season 2. Meanwhile, in the biggest surprise of the sophomore year, Oscar Finlay returned when Jack found himself in Boston. Creator Nick Santora explained that Child gave them the blessing to bring Finlay back.

With a precedent established, it would be much easier to repeat it in future seasons. Production on Reacher season 3 has already been quietly progressing for quite some time now.

It’s likely that, by the time Ritchson made the comments, he already knew if there would be any big guest stars in the upcoming season of the hit series.

In any case, it is expected any returning character would be no more than a cameo. The creatives behind the show revealed that season 3 will have a more solo narrative for Jack after his 110th Special Investigations Unit reunion.

For Finlay and Roscoe Conklin’s return, Jack would have to be somewhere near them to easily incorporate them into the storytelling.

It also shouldn’t be that difficult for the 110th Special Investigators to reunite again after the events of the Reacher season 2 finale. Aside from realizing that they need to be better at keeping in touch with each other after the deaths of their teammates, they are also connected by the money they got from AM.
