SUMMARY

Reacher season 3 could be released in early 2025.
Sticking to a yearly release schedule could help Reacher grow its audience.
This is especially true since Reacher has consistently high viewership similar to broadcast TV procedural hits.

The release window for Reacher season 3 has reportedly been narrowed, and it’s good news for viewers waiting for new episodes. With filming underway for the past several months, a lot is already known about Reacher season 3. The upcoming installment of the Prime Video series will adapt the novel Persuader, in which Alan Ritchson’s Jack Reacher goes undercover to rescue an informant, with Maria Sten returning as Frances Neagley and several new cast members.

Responding to a question about when Reacher season 3 might be released, TVLine shares that new episodes will reportedly be released in early 2025. Although this has yet to be confirmed by Prime Video, Ritchson has confirmed that the third installment will debut in 2025. The latest update narrows the gap further.

Can Reacher Stick To A Yearly Schedule?

It Rivals Many Broadcast Shows, So Consistency Is Key

Reacher has cemented itself as one of the biggest shows for Prime Video, in addition to being one of the biggest hits on streaming. Accumulating billions of minutes viewed on Nielsen’s streaming charts, Reacher easily has the kind of consistent and reliable viewership usually associated with a broadcast TV procedural like Law & Order or the NCIS franchise.

Because of that, it would benefit the Lee Child adaptation to stick to a yearly release schedule. A few streaming shows, such as The Bear and Only Murders in the Building, have so far been able to film and release a new season every year.

Both stream on Hulu and air around the summer months, building the sort of consistency that helps a series grow its audience. Reacher has yet to nail down a specific release window. The first season was released in February 2022, while the second debuted in December 2023 and went into January of this year.

With this latest update, it may be the case that audiences won’t go a full year without new episodes. The crime drama is a big priority for Prime Video and production company Skydance Television.

Even with Ritchson’s star on the rise, with movie projects lined up, it could only grow further if audiences know to expect the episodes roughly at a certain time of year. That’s especially true after the Reacher season 2 finale when considering the interest in the villainous Paulie and how he compares to the show’s main character.

What To Know About Reacher Season 3

Few detailed plot specifics have been revealed about Reacher season 3 by Prime Video, other than the fact that the titular character will face a haunting foe from his past and attempt to rescue an informant.

But turning to details about Persauder, the Lee Child book on which the upcoming episodes are based, Jack Reacher is walking down the street when he sees someone who should be dead. That someone murdered a person that Reacher held dear, and they’ll have to pay the price. It’s unclear if showrunner and executive producer Nick Santora intends to follow the same narrative, however.

More is known about the actors joining Ritchson. Along with Sten as Neagley, the additions to the main ensemble include Halloween Kills actor and 1980s icon Anthony Michael Hall, Lodge 49 alum Sonya Cassidy, Chicago Med and Expats star Brian Tee, in addition to Johnny Berchtold (Tiny Beautiful Things) and Roberto Montesinos (9-1-1: Lone Star).

Daniel David Stewart, meanwhile, will recur. It’s also been confirmed that bodybuilder Olivier Richters, also known as the Dutch Giant, will play the role of Paulie, a secondary antagonist in Persauder.

As for the future beyond the upcoming Persauder adaptation, Reacher season 4 has yet to be renewed by Prime Video. A renewal is likely to happen, all the same, given how popular the Skydance Television production has proven to be.

It could be even be argued that, along with the success of Jack Ryan and The Terminal List, the Alan Ritchson-led action drama has helped its streaming service develop a sort of brand around the sort of strong and generally uncompromising protagonists that are fit to build a franchise around.
