Reacher newcomer Anthony Michael Hall has opened up about his new character in season 3, teasing what to expect from him in the upcoming storyline. Reacher season 3 is based on the seventh book in Lee Child’s Jack Reacher series, titled Persuader.

The book follows its titular character being recruited to take down a drug operation, while also trying to save a DEA Agent whose undercover work is getting more dangerous by the day. Because of the new story, a host of new characters will also be introduced to the fold.

Speaking with Inverse, Hall offered a deeper explanation for his new character, Zachary Beck, in Reacher season 3. While the actor didn’t detail much about what to expect from the story, he indicated what his character’s role would be while hinting at his connection to another character in the show. I just wrapped Season 3 of Reacher , which I can’t really talk too much about… It’s a great character of Zachary Beck, who on the surface is a wholesale rug dealer, but there’s a lot more at play. There’s also a really interesting father-son dynamic, which unfurls in that season, too. So it’s going to be a really exciting season. I’m proud to be a part of it.

Who Is Zachary Beck In The Jack Reacher Book Series?

While Neagley is set to return in the upcoming episodes, she alone may not be enough to learn more about Zachary’s business.

As mentioned by Hall, Zachary is a character who is first introduced in Persuader as a rug dealer, though he’s also a person of interest for the DEA, who believes his business is a front for drug trafficking.

For Reacher to gain the trust of his family, the organization stages a kidnapping of the dealer’s son, with the protagonist “rescuing” him from being taken. This sets the stage for the plot of the book – and season 3 of the show – by including espionage and subterfuge in creative ways.

Since Reacher season 2 ended with the titular character back wandering the Earth alone, it makes sense that season 3 is adapting a novel that sees him mostly having to deal with threats without the guarantee of any backup.

While Neagley is set to return in the upcoming episodes, she alone may not be enough to learn more about Zachary’s business. This is in addition to a new character, Paulie (Olivier Richters), who is even bigger than the show’s main hero, showing how many resources Hall’s character has at his disposal.

With plenty of mystery still surrounding season 3 for non-readers, Hall’s tease indicates how dynamic his character is going to be when introduced.
