Reacher is over for another season but is there going to be a third outing on Amazon Prime Video?

Reacher has concluded this week and subscribers are already eager to know if there will be more to come.

Season two made its debut on Amazon Prime Video at the start of 2024 and the eighth and final episode, Fly Boy, has been released today, Friday, January 19.

Many fans have now discovered how Jack Reacher’s (played by Alan Ritchson) story is brought to an end in this second series so are keen to find out about the show’s future.

Reacher season two was given the go-ahead even before series one made its debut and the same thing happened again for the third season.

Based on the bestselling books by Lee Child, the thriller series was renewed for another outing in December 2023, one month prior to the season two premiere.

Ritchson himself made the special announcement by sharing a behind the scenes video.

Speaking directly to Reacher fans, he said: “December’s the season of hot cocoa and smiles, and now Reacher.

“That’s right – season two of Reacher premieres [on] December 15 on Prime Video. You know what else December is the season of? “Surprises. And boy, do I have a surprise for you.

“That’s right – you’re on the set of season three of Reacher right now. We’re officially underway.”

As Ritchson confirmed work has already begun on Reacher season three so while no release date has been confirmed, there is a good chance it may be back by the end of 2024.

Regarding its plot, it’s hard to predict what season three will be about, despite the series sticking close to the narrative of author Lee Child’s novels.

Season one focused on his first book Killing Floor, whereas series two jumped to Bad Luck and Trouble, Child’s 11th novel in the series.

The events in the second season were also earmarked as taking place two years after the events of the first outing, just to make it more confusing for longtime Reacher fans.

So by not following the books’ linear trajectory, it does make it difficult to predict where the Prime Video show intends to go next.

Season two ended with Reacher and his team bringing down both Shane Langston (Robert Patrick) and AM (Ferdinand Kingsley), with some last-minute help from the Department of Homeland Security.

The agents were now also in possession of $65 million worth of bearer bonds which they split between all of those who were affected by their villains’ actions.

This included Franz’s (Luke Bilyk) family, Sanchez’s (Andres Collantes) girlfriend in Atlantic City and a donation was made to Tony Swan’s (Shannon Kook) favourite dog rescue in his name.

As for Reacher, he doesn’t like to stay in one place too long and headed back on the road again, but not before Neagley (Maria Sten) reminded him that they are “more than” his “team, soldiers, and even your friends” before saying farewell for now.
