Reacher Season 3 star Anthony Michael Hall is detailing his work with series star Alan Ritchson and discussing what to expect from his character Zachary Beck.

Hall, of course, is a prolific actor whose work dates back to the 1980s with pivotal roles in a pair of Brat Pack movies. Hall is next starring as the villain opposite Jessica Alba in the Netflix original movie Trigger Warning—which is new on the streaming service Friday—and he will also play the villain, Beck, in Reacher Season 3.

Details have been surfacing about the hotly anticipated third season of Reacher in the past few weeks. Hall recently teased an upcoming showdown between Jack Reacher (Ritchson) and Beck’s hulking, 7-foot-2-inch bodyguard Paulie (Oliver “The Dutch Giant” Richters) in an interview with CinemaBlend.

Now, during an interview with Screen Rant to discuss his work in Trigger Warning, Hall carefully avoided spoilers about Reacher Season 3 when discussing details about his character. Beck is featured in the seventh book of author Lee Child’s series of Jack Reacher novels.

“This particular season is based on one of the books called Persuader, which is a type of gun,” Hall told Screen Rant. “I’m playing a great character and a lot of it has been drawn heavily from the book. [I’ve] read the book a few times now.”

Getting into specifics about Beck, Hall told the publication, “He’s like a kingpin of wholesale rug dealing. But the truth is that it’s a front; it’s a cover for something a little seedier. I don’t want to say much more than that, but it was also an interesting dynamic because he’s not an outright villain [like] my character of Ezekiel Swan in Trigger Warning.”

Hall added that Beck encounters Reacher after the lone wolf former military police officer saves his character’s son, Richard (Johnny Berchtold), during a dangerous encounter.

Hall Calls Ritchson ‘A Standup Guy’

As for his work with Alan Ritchson on Reacher Season 3, Anthony Michael Hall told Screen Rant how impressed he was while working with the 41-year-old actor.

“I like Alan a lot. He’s a standup guy. He’s fun to work with. He’s very serious about the filmmaking aspect,” Hall told the publication. “I mean, it’s a television show we’re making, but it’s streaming all around the world. And I know that he’s put in his time.”

Having been an actor and executive producer on the USA Network’s series adaptation of Stephen King’s classic novel The Dead Zone from 2002-07, Hall said that because of his own experiences, he admires Ritchson’s level of commitment behind the camera.

“He’s also an executive producer on the show, so there are things that I can relate to because I’ve been in that position,” Hall told Screen Rant. “But I like him a lot. He’s a very nice guy; very humble guy. And he’s very personable too. He’s very cool with people on the set.”

The release date for Reacher Season 3 has not yet been announced.
