Warning: Major spoilers for Reacher season 2 below!
SUMMARY
Reacher season 2 introduces Jack Reacher’s former team members, allowing the show to explore fresh dynamics and delve deeper into his past.
The 110th Special Investigations Unit photo reveals Reacher’s personality as a lone wolf, socially distant and inclined towards living with no social commitments or pressures.
Reacher season 2 has a well-hidden easter egg that is not only hilarious but also says a lot about the main character and his personality.
Adapting the 11th installment in Lee Child’s Jack Reacher novel series, Reacher season 2 closely follows the original book’s storyline and introduces Jack Reacher’s former team members from the 110th Special Investigations Unit as its main characters. Featuring Reacher’s military allies as the protagonists allows the show to explore fresh dynamics and delve deeper into the main character’s past.
At the same time, it also makes room for the show to offer new insight into the main character’s past relationships and how they have evolved.
For instance, by portraying an intimate conversation between Reacher and Neagley in its initial episodes, where the two talk about their boundaries without judging each other, the show highlights the depth of their relationship. Similarly, Reacher season 2 also drops another hilarious easter egg that discloses a lot about the titular character.
Reacher’s 110th Photo Pose Is Actually Hilarious
All the main characters in Reacher season 2, who were in the 110th Special Investigations Unit, have a picture from the night they first bonded over a campfire. At one glance, nothing seems unusual about the picture since it captures how the team members broke the ice and set the foundation for their military alliance.
However, a closer look at the photo reveals that, while everyone else was having a good time and smiling away at the camera, Reacher just stood there awkwardly, having no clue what he was supposed to do.
Not only do his eyes look closed in the picture but he also seems genuinely uninterested in getting himself clicked. What makes the picture even more hilarious is Reacher’s posture. While most officers in the picture are striking a pose or raising their bottles for a toast, Reacher stands there ungraciously, making no effort to show that he is having fun.
Considering how the Officer’s bar fight that ensues before the campfire was a part of Reacher’s elaborate plan to get his team members to work together, he should have been at least a little more invested in the moment.
The 110th Photo Says A Lot About Reacher’s Personality
Although it seems strange that Reacher cares little about the celebration, it makes sense because it says a lot about his personality. In its initial episodes, Reacher season 2 establishes that he is the only member of the 110th Special Investigations Unit who has not been in touch with the others.
All members of the team also have a copy of the photo with them, signifying how much that night meant to them. Reacher, too, appreciates his team members and deeply cares for all of them. Why else would he risk his life to serve justice to their killers? However, unlike the others, Reacher has always been a lone wolf by nature.
The photograph is hilarious but serves as a poignant symbol of Reacher’s sense of individuality. While his team members cherish the night and Dixon slightly leans towards him to express her admiration for him, Reacher remains stoic because that is just how he is.
His reluctance to pose for the camera in the Reacher season 2 picture does not diminish his commitment to the team but portrays how he has always been socially distant, inclined towards living like a hobo with no social commitments or pressures.
