The upcoming season of one Netflix television series similar to Reacher will not run into the same problem as the Amazon show did in season 2.

Reacher season 2 faced casting changes, with Roscoe Conklin not returning. The Night Agent season 2 won’t have the same issue.
The Night Agent is based on a single book, giving the writers more freedom to continue the story and keep characters, unlike Reacher.
Unlike Reacher, where Roscoe’s absence was felt, The Night Agent will bring back Rose Larkin for future episodes, ensuring continuity.
Reacher season 2 has ended, and while waiting for new episodes, fans can check out one Netflix television show that is already renewed and won’t experience the same problem that Reacher did in its latest season.
The Amazon action crime series, developed by Nick Santora, centers around the titular character — Jack Reacher, played by Alan Ritchson — a former United States Army military police officer living a nomadic lifestyle and constantly running into dangerous criminals. The show has received praise from critics and fans alike, but no one can deny that something (or someone) was missing in season 2.
Following Reacher season 1, the producers chose not to bring back a handful of the cast members, including Willa Fitzgerald as Roscoe Conklin. Roscoe was a police sergeant in Margrave, Georgia, who worked with Reacher to solve the string of murders in the town.
Over the course of the season, Reacher and Roscoe developed romantic feelings for one another, but by the finale, they said goodbye, and Reacher left Margrave. So, Roscoe didn’t return in Reacher season 2. Thankfully, the upcoming second season of the Netflix series won’t encounter the same casting exit obstacle as the Amazon show.

Produced by Amazon Prime Video, Reacher adapts Lee Child’s Jack Reacher book series to live-action. The series follows veteran Military Police Officer Jack Reacher as he unravels a dangerous conspiracy in the fictional town of Margrave, Georgia. Played by the towering Alan Ritchson, the titular hero collaborates with officer Roscoe Conklin (Willa Fitzgerald) and Chief Detective Oscar Finlay (Malcolm Goodwin) to clean his name and save Margrave from crime and corruption.

Luciane Buchanan as Rose Larkin will return in The Night Agent season 2, meaning the Netflix series won’t run into the same issue as Reacher did when Willa Fitzgerald as Roscoe Conklin departed the show after season 1.
The Night Agent, created by Shawn Ryan, stars Gabriel Basso as FBI Agent Peter Sutherland, a Night Action telephone operator at the White House. One night, when the phone rings, Rose, a former cybersecurity CEO, is on the other end, and Peter soon learns about a conspiracy plot that threatens the nation.
The Night Agent season 2 began filming in February 2024, but its release date is unknown.
Although the ending of The Night Agent season 1 wrapped up the plotline, Rose will return in future episodes, even if they revolve around a new mystery.
Unlike Reacher, the Netflix action thriller series won’t leave numerous original cast members in the dust while working on its second season, especially one who plays the titular character’s love interest. Roscoe’s absence was felt in Reacher season 2, and the same won’t be said about Rose in the upcoming episodes of The Night Agent.
The Night Agent’s Biggest Reacher Difference Is Good For The Netflix Show
Although The Night Agent and Reacher share many qualities and themes, they also differ in one significant way (other than Rose returning and Roscoe not). Both shows are adaptations, but while the Netflix action thriller is only based on one book — The Night Agent by Matthew Quirk — the Amazon series is based on a series of novels by Lee Child.
As a result, the writers of The Night Agent can go in any direction they want after season 1 (including keeping characters and elements from the first set of episodes). Meanwhile, Reacher is constricted by its endless source material.
