Lady Gaga recently promoted her upcoming murder drama House of Gucci in a unique way – with a retro TikTok dance that oozed chic vibes. The 35-year-old pop sensation is portraying Patrizia Reggiani, who infamously orchestrated the murder of her ex-husband Maurizio Gucci in the 1990s.
In a nod to the couple’s early years, Gaga grooved to Donna Summer’s “I Feel Love” in a disco queen outfit, giving fans a taste of what’s to come in the highly anticipated film.
Looking fantastic: Lady Gaga promoted her upcoming murder drama House Of Gucci by sharing a retro-chic dance on Tik Tok this Tuesday. Interestingly, the outfit she was wearing in the video happened to be the same one she was going to wear to the movie’s world premiere that evening at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square in London.
The Tik Tok began with Gaga in modern workout attire, showcasing her toned midriff. She then transitioned into her character’s Italian accent, playfully reciting a line from the trailer: ‘Father, Son and House Of Gucci.’ The video then transformed to show Gaga in an ensemble reminiscent of the glamour of Studio 54 during the extravagant 1970s.
The actress, aged 35, is portraying Patrizia Reggiani in the upcoming film. Patrizia was married to Maurizio Gucci in the 1970s and later arranged for his murder by a hitman in 1995, ten years after their divorce.
Fantastic: She started her Tik Tok video wearing trendy exercise clothes that showcased Gaga’s toned midsection.
Dressed in a regal royal purple gown with bold shoulders and a sleek platinum hairstyle, she embodied her character’s Italian flair by reciting a line from the trailer: “Father, Son and House Of Gucci.” Gaga confidently strutted towards the camera, revealing her floral net stockings and alluring garters underneath her dress. The multi-talented singer, who received an Oscar nomination for her role in A Star Is Born, dazzled with an array of jewelry, including a sparkling diamond ring on her middle finger and a sheer rhinestone-studded glove.
Out of nowhere, the video transitioned to Gaga dressed in an ensemble that seemed perfect for a night out at Studio 54 during the glamorous extravagance of the 1970s.
When the moment arrived, Gaga confidently walked towards the camera and playfully lifted her dress to reveal the stylish floral net stockings and daring garters she had on underneath. Ridley Scott is the mastermind behind House Of Gucci, where Adam Driver will take on the role of Maurizio opposite Gaga as his captivating wife.
The film boasts an impressive cast, with other members of the Gucci family being portrayed by Jared Leto, Salma Hayek, Jeremy Irons, and Al Pacino. Following its premiere on Tuesday, where Gaga made a striking entrance in a billowing cape, the movie is set to hit theaters in the US on November 24 and the UK on the 26th.
Earlier this year, Patrizia expressed her disappointment to the Italian news service ANSA, stating, ‘It bothers me that Lady Gaga is portraying me in Ridley Scott’s new film without having the courtesy to meet me and show sensitivity towards my story.’
Showing off: The singer of Born This Way, who was nominated for a best actress Oscar for the recent remake of A Star Is Born, flaunted an abundance of jewelry in her most recent social media post.
Sparkle: Adorning her right hand with a dazzling diamond ring on her middle finger, she paired it with a transparent glove encrusted with rhinestones. She made it clear that her decision was not about money, stating, “I will not be profiting from the film. It’s about common sense and showing respect.”
In a recent interview with British Vogue, Gaga revealed her approach to portraying the story, saying, “I believed I could honor this narrative best by embodying a curious woman with a journalistic spirit, delving into the deeper meaning behind each scene in the film.”
The Italian American star emphasized, “I was determined to uncover the real Patrizia Gucci on my own terms, without anyone – not even Patrizia herself – dictating her identity to me.” Living a lavish life, Patrizia and Maurizio embraced a high-flying lifestyle, rubbing shoulders with iconic figures like Jacqueline Onassis, who also brought glamour to Gucci’s fashion.
Renowned filmmaker Ridley Scott has directed the upcoming film House Of Gucci, featuring Adam Driver as Maurizio and Lady Gaga as his fierce wife Patrizia. Maurizio left Patrizia for another woman in 1985, ultimately leading to their divorce being finalized in 1991.
In a previous interview with the Guardian, Patrizia opened up about the issues in their marriage, highlighting Maurizio’s struggles in managing the Gucci company after his father’s passing.
The financial troubles faced by Gruppo Gucci during Maurizio’s leadership forced him to sell the company to Investcorp in 1993, a decision that left Patrizia feeling angry and disappointed. Reflecting on those difficult times, Patrizia expressed her frustration with Maurizio’s actions, particularly the loss of the family business. She described it as a foolish mistake and a major setback in their lives.
On a momentous evening, she happened to be wearing the same outfit she wore to the movie’s grand premiere at Odeon Luxe Leicester Square in London. “I was so angry, but I felt powerless,” she admitted, quietly adding, “He had no right to treat me like that.”
In 1995, she had hired a hitman to eliminate Maurizio, the grandson of the founder of Gucci, although she wasn’t apprehended until early 1997. When asked why she didn’t take matters into her own hands, she quipped with a touch of humor, “My eyesight isn’t the best, I didn’t want to miss.” Her trial as the ‘Black Widow’ was a major spectacle in the media, and she was found guilty in 1998, serving 18 years before being released on parole in 2016.
Release: Following its debut this Tuesday, where Gaga elegantly draped the cape of her dress over her head, the film will be released in the US on November 24th and in the UK on November 26th.
Five years ago, she was given the chance for parole but declined due to the expectation of having to work. ‘I have never worked before and I have no intention of starting now,’ Patrizia apparently told her lawyer at that time. The movie’s screenplay was adapted by Roberto Bentivegna from Sara Gay Forden’s book “The House Of Gucci: A Sensational Story Of Murder, Madness, Glamour And Greed.”
