And Gerard Butler has admitted he now ‘thinks more’ about his life following the terrifying accident – which sent him flying through the air, and fractured his foot in five places.

Speaking on ITV’s Lorraine on Tuesday, the 48-year-old vowed to adventure in a ‘safer’ way from now on, after believing he was going to ‘wake up paralysed’ or even lose his life to the crash.

The 300 star admitted he was convinced he was going to die as he flew ‘through the air’, after being hit by a car in LA.

Discussing the shocking incident, he said: ‘I thought, this is it. I was going very fast so I knew I was going far when I crashed.

‘I was going through the air a certain way, and it seemed like a long time. I thought if I fall in the wrong way I’m a dead man, or I’m going to wake up paralysed.’

The PS I Love You actor went on to explain the crash has helped him realise how precious life is, and has led him to tone down his adventurous lifestyle – despite being a huge fan of motorbikes.

‘It makes you think, I need to think about other things,’ he added. ‘I want to not have the stress of waking up in the morning and thinking I have this coming up and that coming up. I want an adventure but in a safer way.’

Gerard explained back in October that the accident had been caused by a woman who was parked on the other side of the road.

She decided to make an illegal U-Turn – therefore crashing straight into him, and sending him ‘flying through the air’ into a somersault, before painfully landing on the ground.

Despite the serious collision, the actor managed to come away mostly unscathed, with just a few bruises and a fractured foot in five places.

The actor has been enjoying some down time since the crash, and aided his recovery with a relaxing trip to Mexico over Christmas with his girlfriend Morgan Brown.

However, Gerard landed himself in hot water earlier this month, when he admitted he did not know the surname of Brandi Glanville – who he once dated.

Speaking on Watch What Happens Live earlier this month, he explained with a laugh: ‘It was kind of a crazy time in my life. Anyway we hung out and had fun and I never saw her again.’

Gerard said later people from TMZ had approached him and asked about his relationship with the reality star to which he replied: ‘Who’s Brandi Glanville!?’
