Like the Greek warrior, the man apparently put up a fight even though he was outnumbered by security guards

A seemingly drunk man did his best impression of Leonidas from hit movie 300, shouting, “This is Sparta” while allegedly stealing a bottle of vodka.

The man was caught on camera running away from security guards

Starring Gerard Butler, 300 tells the story of Spartan Greek warriors who, with King Leonidas in charge, defied the army of Xerxes, the Persian King.

This King Leonidas impersonator, however, apparently defied authorities for less noble reasons.

The incident happened in the city of Yekaterinburg, Russia, where the unnamed bearded man approached the supermarket cashier with a bottle of vodka.

But instead of paying, he shouted, “This is Sparta!” before running out of the shop.

The video, which was shot by an onlooker, shows the moment he was caught.

Despite four men holding him, he continues to struggle, trying to break free.

Female voices are heard asking: “What did he do?”

Others reply, “He tried to steal a vodka bottle,” and, “This is so ridiculous.”

The man again shouts: “Argh! This is Sparta!”

However, business carried on as usual as the security officers waited for the police to arrive.
