After the incredibly short-lived marriage between Nicolas Cage and Erika Koike ended, truths about her lifestyle started rising to the surface.

Not much was known about the mysterious woman named Erika Koike for most of her life. That all changed when she started dating Nicolas Cage. As soon as the pair were spotted together in 2018, the world tuned in, and everyone wanted to know as much as possible about the woman who had captured his attention.

Reports indicated she was a makeup artist, but she only had one real cosmetic credit to her name. Within about a year, their sudden marriage hit the headlines, not because it was lavish, but rather, because it was shocking. This incredibly short-lived marriage ended in divorce (shortly before Cage met his next wife Riko Shibata) and truths about Erika’s shady lifestyle started rising to the surface.

Updated on February 18, 2022: Nicolas Cage married his fifth wife, Riko Shibata, in February 2021, and the two are now expecting a child. It will be Cage’s third child, after his 31-year-old son Weston, whom he shares with actress Christina Fulton, and his 16-year-old son Kal-El, whom he shares with third-wife Alice Kim. While Nicolas Cage might regret how he rushed into things with Erika Koike, it seems he is very happy with how things turned out in the end. He told the Los Angeles Times, “I’m really happily married. I know five is a lot, but I think I got it right this time.”

8. Erika Koike Was Only Married To Nicolas Cage For 4 Days

The Blast reported that this bizarre and unlikely marriage lasted just four short days. When people first discovered Nicolas Cage had just been married in Las Vegas, it was believed to be a hoax. What happened next was even more shocking. Just four short days after walking down the aisle and saying “I do,” Nicolas Cage filed for an annulment and pushed to rid himself of Erika for good.

7. Erika Koike Sought Spousal Support After Her 4-Day Marriage


It’s not uncommon for an ex-spouse to request spousal support during a divorce settlement, however, it’s a strange request for a marriage that lasted all of four days. Nicolas Cage was livid when he heard that Erika was seeking spousal support, and just as quickly as the topic came up, it fizzled out. The press speculated that she had been appeased with some sort of payout for this situation to have gone silent so quickly.

6. Erika Koike Was The Aggressor In A Domestic Violence Case


Erika was previously married and sources reveal there was a deep history of domestic violence within her marriage. It turns out that Erika herself was the aggressor in her marriage. In fact, the police were involved in 2006, and she was arrested for domestic violence.

There were a number of previous calls made to their residence in advance of this arrest, and by all accounts, it seems it was Erika’s temper that was in question.

The instances of aggressive behavior have been plentiful in Erika’s world, and it seems they weren’t just restricted to the domestic realm. In 2016, a neighbor of Erika’s claimed she was returning to her apartment complex one night when Erika jumped out at her and began to assault her. This was reportedly a very aggressive attack, during which Erika repeatedly punched her neighbor in the face and began to choke her. Another neighbor had to step in to stop the violent attack.

4. Erika Koike Dated Nicolas Cage For A Full Year

Much of the fame surrounding Erika Koike’s name is a result of the status she obtained by being married to Nicolas Cage for four days. The truth is, she had already been dating Nicolas for a year before the drunken vows were exchanged. The two were spotted together for an entire year and were photographed taking a vacation together in Puerto Rico, as well as leaving a number of restaurants in California.

3. Erika Koike Has Been Arrested For DUI… Three Times


Getting arrested for a DUI is never a good thing, and most people try to take responsible actions to avoid this situation from occurring in the first place. Erika, on the other hand, was arrested on a DUI charge in 2008, and then proceeded to carry on without any lessons being learned, only to get arrested again in 2011.

During her second DUI arrest, she was revealed to have been more than three times over the legal limit. To add insult to injury, she was arrested for yet another DUI charge in 2018.

2. Erika Koike Was Drunk When She Married Nicholas Cage


Given all the DUI charges, it didn’t seem out of character when Nicolas Cage revealed that Erika was drunk at the time they exchanged vows with one another. In fact, he claims he was in a stumbling, slurring drunken state when he married Erika in Las Vegas, a claim he believed would assist him in getting an annulment instead of having to process through a divorce hearing.

Erika refused to cooperate on having the marriage annulled, and the two eventually agreed on a divorce settlement.

1. Erika Koike Was Linked To A Criminal Dealer

After stripping away the chaotic four-day marriage and all the discussions of drunkenness and disputes about money, there is one thing that Nicolas Cage said that truly rattled him about Erika Koike.

More than any other shocking discovery he came across, the fact that she was linked to a known drug dealer was too much for him to accept. Cage stated that Erika and this alleged criminal were an item, and that Erika failed to mention her eerily intimate relationship with this criminal.

Immediately upon learning that she had a very sketchy side-man, Cage became disinterested in continuing a relationship with her.
