NFC Team Shocks The Entire NFL By Landing Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson In Blockbuster Trade Proposal

A blockbuster trade proposal has the Cleveland Browns getting out of Deshaun Watson’s contract by sending him to a desperate NFC team.

After acquiring Deshaun Watson in a 2022 blockbuster trade with the Houston Texans, Cleveland signed Watson to a five-year deal worth $230 million. The Browns won’t admit it, but it’s safe to say they’re already feeling major buyer’s remorse.

Watson was suspended for the first 11 games of 2022 because of sexual misconduct allegations from more than two dozen women. He appeared in six games last year before undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery.

Though Deshaun Watson is 8-4 in 12 games started for Cleveland, he has a lackluster 59.8 completion percentage for 14 touchdowns, nine interceptions and a mediocre passer rating of 81.7.

Marissa Myers of The Wright Way Network predicted that the New York Giants will roll the dice on the 2017 first-round pick and make a trade for Watson:

“The New York Giants are in a spot where they need to have a successful season as Brian Daboll could be on the hot seat, same with the rest of the coaching staff. Since giving Daniel Jones his extension he has not lived up to expectations and has held the Giants back on offense. They can’t afford the time to see if he can fully develop into their franchise quarterback or not, making it essential to trade for a better quarterback…

Watson in the right system can lead an offense, and with an offensive mind like Daboll he can get the most out of Watson. Not to mention the offensive coordinator for the Texans in 2019-2020, some of Watson’s best years, is now the tight ends coach for New York, leading to an instant connection.”

The Giants handed Daniel Jones a four-year extension worth $160 million last year. However, the G-Men can get out of Jones’ contract and release him next year with small financial ramifications.

Of course, Deshaun Watson can put a rest to the trade speculation if he regains his Pro Bowl form for the Browns in 2024. They open their season with a home tilt against the Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 8.

As for the Giants, they’ll open their season with a home tilt on the same date against the Minnesota Vikings.

What Would Giants Have To Give Up For Deshaun Watson?

If the Giants and Browns were to agree to a Deshaun Watson trade, Cleveland would obviously have to take back Daniel Jones’ burden of a contract in return.

But since Watson’s contract and inconsistent play have become problematic in Cleveland, it would probably take nothing more than Jones and a mid-to-late-round pick to complete the trade.

So if the Giants wanted Watson, a proposed offer of Jones and a 2026 fifth-round pick should be enough to get it done.
