NFL cameras caught Caleb Williams’ wholesome sideline reaction after he scored his first preseason touchdown against the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday.

Caleb Williams scrambled for a seven-yard touchdown in the second quarter of the Bears-Bengals game at Soldier Field. The first overall pick of 2024 completed six of 13 pass attempts for 75 yards in the limited action he saw.

As seen in the new episode of HBO’s “Hard Knocks” series, which aired on Tuesday night, cameras caught Williams’ heartwarming reaction on the sideline after he recorded his first touchdown.

A relieved Caleb Williams can be heard telling coaches and teammates that he plans to hold onto the football.

“Imma hold this. Imma hold it. Seven points, baby. First one, baby. First one in the home…Yeah, I’m keeping it. I’m just gonna hold it.”

Williams enters his rookie year as one of the most highly-touted quarterback prospects in decades. The 2022 Heisman Trophy winner was a no-brainer for the Bears, who obtained the No. 1 pick via the Carolina Panthers thanks to last year’s trade-up for Alabama QB Bryce Young.

Sid Luckman is regarded as the last truly great Chicago Bears’ quarterback, and he played his final season in 1950. Highly touted prospects like Cade McNown, Mitch Trubisky and Justin Fields never panned out as hoped, but we’ll see in the coming years if Williams can live up to the sky-high hype in Windy City.

Caleb Williams Debuts vs. Tennessee Titans On Sept. 8

Williams’ long-awaited NFL debut is less than three weeks away now. On Sept. 8, he’ll make his official NFL debut when the Bears welcome Will Levis and the Tennessee Titans to Soldier Field.

The Bears haven’t won a playoff game since 2010 and last won double-digit games in 2018. For the first time in a while, there’s great optimism about their ability to re-emerge as a contender in the NFC.

There’s a nice set of playmakers for Williams to work with, namely the three-headed monster at wide receiver in DJ Moore, Keenan Allen and prized rookie Rome Odunze.
