One day after news broke that the Creed frontman, 50, was moving forward with a divorce from his wife of 18 years, Jaclyn, the musician reposted a message from a popular pastor and motivational speaker on his Instagram Stories.
The clip, originally posted by TikTok account ROTQUOTES and shared by Stapp on Saturday, May 11, featured pastor T.D. Jakes sharing a message with his listeners: “Speak without being offensive. Listen without being defensive. And always leave your opponent with their dignity.”
Over the weekend, the rocker also shared snaps on Instagram from what he described as a “spiritual experience” at a recent solo performance in Mississippi.
On Friday, May 10, PEOPLE confirmed that Stapp and his wife were moving forward with their divorce, as a rep for the musician noted that “out of respect for their family, Scott intends to navigate this difficult time privately.”

Both Jaclyn and the Creed vocalist had previously filed for divorce separately — Jaclyn in June 2022 (which was withdrawn) and Stapp in May 2023.
“Scott and Jaclyn had determined the marriage was over but continued to try to make it work,” an insider told PEOPLE this week of the pair, who are parents to daughter Milan, 17, and sons Daniel, 13, and Anthony, 6. Stapp is also dad to son Jagger, 25, whom he shares with ex-wife Hillaree Burns.

In a March conversation with PEOPLE, Stapp — who wed Jaclyn on Feb. 11, 2006 — described marriage as “a learning experience.”
“Relationships teach you a lot of things, good and bad, and I’ve learned that no matter how they resolve or how they continue, that each stage in each season of the relationship is most definitely a learning experience,” he said.
“You have to look back at it as such, no matter what, and you have to reframe it,” he added. “Reframing it no matter what the circumstance is precipitates growth and helps you become a better human being and a better partner.”
Jaclyn previously opened up to PEOPLE about signing up for Couples Therapy in December 2015, an experience she called “life-changing.”
“I have no regrets about doing the show. It was a positive experience. We made some friends, and Dr. Jenn went head-on with a lot of issues that we had never talked about in 10 years in marriage. It’s hard to talk about mental health, addiction… but we talked about some very serious issues as husband and wife,” she said.
An insider also told PEOPLE that Stapp “overcome enormous odds” in 2015, which they called “a credit to his faith and the family he and Jaclyn created.”
Stapp released his latest solo album, Higher Power, earlier this year. As he shared with PEOPLE at the time, the album arrived as he’s “gone through a pretty difficult period in life over the last four years.”
“I’m hanging in there — just one hour at a time, one thing at a time. Taking little bites of the elephant and then just waking up again and doing it all over the next day,” he said. “A lot going on, but all good stuff.”
