Indiana Fever’s star rookie Caitlin Clark had a major injury scare on Monday during their 84-79 win over the Atlanta Dream at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. Clark had a slow start to the game but found her offensive rhythm in the second half.

She scored her first points with a 3-pointer in the first quarter before playing smothering defense on Allisha Gray. Later in the period, the rookie exited the game after rolling her ankle but returned in the second quarter. At halftime, Clark had eight points, four rebounds, three assists and one block.

The former Iowa superstar seemed revitalized after the break. The one-time WNBA All-Star quickly racked up points, helping the Fever extend their lead. Clark rediscovered her touch from beyond the arc and drove into the paint with dazzling dribbles to score easy layups.

Clark finished the game with 19 points and was on the court for 36:54 minutes. The rookie also contributed seven rebounds, seven assists, two steals, and a block, while keeping her turnovers to a minimum with just two.

Clark shot 6-of-14 from the field, including 4-of-9 from beyond the arc. She was perfect from the free-throw line, hitting all three attempts and posted a +3 in the plus-minus column.

What happened to Caitlin Clark?

With 3:06 remaining in the first quarter and the Fever leading 17-14, Caitlin Clark suffered a major injury scare. The rookie rolled her left ankle during a defensive play and immediately went down on the floor, grimacing in pain.

Clark exited the game and was examined by the Fever’s medical staff on the bench. After overcoming the initial shock, she returned to the game in the second quarter.

Clark achieved a couple of impressive milestones during the game against the Dream. The former Iowa standout tied the WNBA rookie record for most 3-pointers in a season with 85 after sinking her fourth three of the game.

Additionally, Clark is the only guard in the WNBA this season to have recorded at least 25 steals and 25 blocks.
