The unexpectedly peaceful life of the star “Even God Must Smile”!***

Before becoming famous with the series “Even God Must Laugh”, the main actor of the movie N!xau had little contact with civilized life and his life was not remarkable.

The God Must Be Crazy was first released in 1980, written and directed by Jamie Uys. The first part of the series was filmed in Botswana and South Africa and tells the story of Xi, a member of the Sho tribe who lives in the Kalahari Desert and has never known the existence of the civilized world.
The movie “Even God Must Laugh” achieved global revenue of up to 100 million USD.

N!xau or Gcao Tekene Coma is the male lead in “Even the Gods Must Laugh”.

N!xau, also known as Gcao Tekene Coma, born in 1943, is a true Bushman of the Namibian tribe. Before becoming famous for his role as the naive Kalahari San (Bushman) Xixo in the famous film Even the Gods Must Laugh , he had an ordinary, unremarkable life in his hometown.

His life was completely cut off from the civilized world. When he received his first $300 salary, he did not know what to do with it and let it fly away.

By the time he accepted the part 2 of the film, he realized the value of the money he earned and asked for a salary of 80 thousand USD. With that money, N!xau built a brick house with a complete water and electricity system for his family to live in.

After that, he quickly received the attention of many directors as well as invitations to act in films. N!xau is loved for his natural and rustic acting style. He once went to Hong Kong to act in films and collaborated with famous actors of the land. 

His acting career is associated with films such as the two parts of The Gods Must Be Crazy : The Gods Must Be Crazy (1980), The Gods Must Be Crazy II (1988), Kwagga Strikes Back (1990), Crazy Safari (1991), Crazy Hong Kong (1993), The Gods Must be Funny in China (1994) and Sekai Ururun Taizaiki (1996).

With his patience and sense of humor, actor N!xau traveled the world for 10 years, exposed to civilized life. However, he admitted that this made him feel stressed and decided to return to the simple aboriginal life in his homeland in the Kalahari.
N!xau returned to his hometown in his old age. He died in 2003 at the age of 59. 

After giving up his acting career, N!xau returned to being a peaceful farmer, planting trees and taking care of the farm with his wife and children every day. The actor has 3 wives and 6 children.

In 2003, at the age of 59, he was found dead in a forest near his home while on his way to collect firewood. The real cause of the actor’s death has not been revealed, but there are sources that he was diagnosed with tuberculosis before his death.

He was buried in his hometown, next to his second wife. Although he left the entertainment industry a long time ago, his passing still leaves regrets for the public. Director of the movie Even God Must Laugh – Jamie Uys once commented that N!xau was a natural born artist with acting qualities flowing in his blood.
