SUMMARY

Laugh Tale, an island located just a few arcs away, will require a great deal of work on the part of the crew as One Piece has entered the final tale.
One argument suggests that Eiichiro Oda hinted at Laugh Tale’s location by exposing Luffy’s real-life nationality.
This theory uses the principle of spacetime to explain the significance of timelines in One Piece.

The final destination of the Straw Hat Pirates’ adventure, which not only lets the crew find One Piece but also makes Luffy the Pirate King, is coming close with every chapter. As the series has entered the final saga, the island called Laugh Tale is just a few arcs away, but the crew will need to put in a lot of effort in order to find it.

This is because, except for the Roger Pirates, no one else has been able to reach the island. Even though Luffy checks all the boxes for becoming the future Pirate King, he is still one poneglyph short. There have been many theories as to where the last poneglyph would be, but all of them do not carry sufficient evidence.

However, there is one theory that explains that Eiichiro Oda might have hinted at Laugh Tale’s location by revealing Luffy’s real-life nationality along with explaining the contents of the One Piece treasure. This theory involves the principle of spacetime and explains the importance of timelines in One Piece.

The Real-Life Inspiration for Laugh Tale

u/ChibiGojira on Reddit posted a theory that explains the real-life mythology that Eiichiro Oda used to create the island of Laugh Tale. According to the theory, this real-life inspiration was hinted at when Oda revealed Luffy’s nationality to be Brazilian. As Luffy is the next person to find Laugh Tale, his nationality points out that Laugh Tale was inspired by the island of Brasil in Irish mythology.

The mythology explains that the island of Brasil appears every 7 years and only special people could get to the island and partake in a feast, which is the central narrative of every arc’s conclusion in One Piece. There are too many parallel elements to ignore the similarity between the two islands.

Also, Oda’s habit of including aspects from real-life inspiration in One Piece and then foreshadowing them only strengthens the theory. Although there are a few plotholes, the theory is the best explanation of the island of Laugh Tale and how it fits perfectly in the One Piece narrative.

One Piece Theory Hints at Laugh Tale’s Location

According to a theory, it has already been established in One Piece that although there are four important poneglyphs in the story, only three of them are necessary to pinpoint the direction of Laugh Tale. However, the fourth poneglyph is needed to determine the location of the poneglyph in spacetime.

The recent One Piece narrative has made it clear that time holds major importance in One Piece, and this helps the theory in explaining that Laugh Tale is only accessible at certain periods of time because of its connection to the Island of Brasil. Also, the theory states that Laugh Tale Island connects travelers from different points in time into a singular moment.

This is proved by the fact that Vegapunk mentioned in Chapter 1120 that the Roger Pirates learned about the secrets of the world from the purest source possible, which is Joy Boy himself. Thus, it can be stated that all the timelines exist together in Laugh Tale as One Piece, thus making its location varied through time and not through distance.
