In the world of One Piece, there is no shortage of powerful individuals. Monkey D. Luffy, his Straw Hat crew, and the enemies they go up against all possess monstrous strength — especially following the show’s two-year timeskip. While most of the series’ strongest heroes and villains are male, the series also benefits from plenty of powerful women.

Although outnumbered, several female characters in One Piece can give their male counterparts a run for their money. On the one hand, there are those whose powers are well known. Conversely, some women are known to be powerful, but their full strength remains a mystery. Whether they’re skilled swordsmen or possess a powerful Devil Fruit, One Piece is filled with strong female characters that consistently impress fans.

Kozuki Hiyori was originally introduced as the oiran Komurasaki, a seemingly haughty woman who enjoyed destroying men’s lives. The truth, however, was that these men had brought it on themselves. Hiyori was initially fake-killed by Denjiro, who hoped to keep her safe from the malevolent Shogun Orochi. The plan worked for a while, but Hiyori was quickly dragged into the thick of battle.

Although having very few combat skills, Hiyori proved to be a bold and courageous woman. She went above and beyond to contain Orochi when he was injured, proving she wasn’t afraid of the Shogun or his soldiers. As the child of a samurai as brave as Kozuki Oden, Hiyori follows in her father’s footsteps as much as her brother Momonuske. All things considered, however, Hiyori is the weakest One Piece female character on this list because she isn’t made for real fighting.

24Nefertari D. Vivi Is Still Considered An Unofficial Straw Hat Pirate

While Nefertari Vivi first appeared as a villainous member of Baroque Works, she soon became friends and allies with the Straw Hat Pirates. The D in her name made her seem even more interesting, especially after fans discovered that Vivi was a direct descendant of one of the Twenty Founders of the World Government.

Although she proved to be a decent fighter, wielding her Kujakki Slashers with high proficiency, Vivi left most of the tougher opponents for the Straw Hats to handle. That said, Vivi’s diplomatic talents have helped her father, King Nefertari Cobra, in multiple situations, whereas her espionage skills are top-notch. With all these impressive characteristics, it’s unsurprising to see Vivi ranked among the strongest women in One Piece.

23Alvida Has Become Much Stronger Since Her Fight With Luffy

Captain Alvida, also known by her epithet “Iron Mace,” was the first enemy to be defeated by Luffy when he began his pirate journey. Despite her physical strength and ability to wield her mace, Luffy could dispatch Alvida with minimal effort. However, Alvida later formed an alliance with Buggy, hoping to take Luffy down together.

By this time, she had already eaten the Slip-Slip Fruit, which transformed her skin into a slippery material that was mostly resistant to attacks. In this form, Alvida was capable of causing considerable damage in Logue Town while also changing her appearance completely. Although Alvida hasn’t played a major role in One Piece, there’s no doubt that she’s a rather powerful combatant. Currently, she is working for Crocodile.

As a member of the Marines, Tashigi’s importance to the plot has slowly faded as the series has shifted to all-out pirate warfare with the Four Emperors. It also doesn’t help that she’s managed to lose a number of her bigger fights, but that doesn’t change the fact that she’s one of the stronger female characters in the series.

Her skill with a sword may be surpassed by a samurai like Zoro, but that isn’t an insult. Few can match him in the ways of swordsmanship. Tashigi still has impressive feats, such as deflecting away a cannonball and taking down fodder opponents in mere seconds. Her remarkable speed and flexibility allowed her to develop imperceptible attacks, creating openings in the opponent’s defense in the blink of an eye.

The Cipher Pol organization handles the World Government’s most covert operations. As a result, its members are among the most lethal characters in all of One Piece. Although most of their members seem to be male, one female figure is an exceptional member of its ranks: Kalifa. Kalifa first appears in the Enies Lobby arc as part of the CP9 assassination branch.

After being defeated by the Straw Hat Pirates, she and the other members of CP9 are brought into a new organization — CP0, a group that answers directly to World Nobles. This group’s agents know Observation and Armament Haki, which makes Kalifa a dangerous opponent given her preexisting Devil Fruit and Rokushiki-related abilities. While her fight with Nami was certainly interesting, it’s clear that Kalifa doesn’t have what it takes to be ranked any higher on this list.

Amazon Lily is an island almost exclusively comprised of women and girls, so it should come as no surprise that the location is home to some of the strongest women in One Piece. One of these women, Boa Sandersonia, is the middle child of the Three Gorgon Sisters. Alongside her siblings, Boa Marigold and Boa Hancock, she protects Amazon Lily from any would-be evildoers.

Sandersonia doesn’t often have the opportunity to demonstrate her talents, but considering her ability to use Armament and Observation Haki, she’s certainly competent in the New World. Her Devil Fruit — the Snake-Snake Fruit: Model Anaconda — is a quality Zoan-type, lending even more credence to her abilities as a fighter. Sandersonia’s fruit allows her to transform her hair into snakes, much like the Gorgons of Greek mythology.

If that’s not impressive enough, she also wields Armament and Observation Haki. These traits, coupled with the fact that she withstood a blast from Monkey D. Luffy’s Conqueror’s Haki, easily slot her among the New World’s strongest pirates and one of the strongest female characters in One Piece.

Admittedly, Hina doesn’t play a major role in One Piece‘s major narrative arcs. However, that doesn’t mean that the Marine rear admiral lacks combat ability. She’s demonstrated herself to be capable more times than most members of the World Government. Hina’s Devil Fruit, the Bind-Bind Fruit, is a Paramecia-type that allows her to produce iron bindings that restrain prisoners. These bindings can also be used as offensive weapons.

The Bind-Bind fruit comes in handy on multiple occasions, and in two separate instances, these powers help her subdue Mr. 2 (also known as Bon Clay and a surprisingly slippery fighter). As a rear admiral, Hina is only one military rank below Smoker and Garp, representing the Marines’ military elite. This naturally makes her one of the most formidable combatants in the series.

As with many One Piece characters, Jewelry Bonney’s true strength is an enigma. Her reputation and unique abilities are certainly evidence of her power. Not only does Bonney actually wound Blackbeard, but she also manages to stun Luffy. However, until recently, the Supernova hadn’t fought anyone who wasn’t a generic fodder character. That said, Bonney has shown her combat spirit during the Egghead Arc, going up against Jaygarcia Saturn, one of the Five Elders.

More importantly, there is no denying the strength of her Devil Fruit powers. She can accelerate the aging process or turn back the clock on whatever living being she touches. It is a game-changing ability that could legitimately turn the tides of a battle if used in the right scenario. However, the Age-Age fruit also hides Bonney’s greatest secret — that she’s a 12-year-old girl disguised as an adult woman.

This makes her a dire threat to most opponents, and in the right situation, it could completely negate an enemy’s strongest weapon. She also knows how to wield her abilities with a remarkable degree of precision, making her a rather formidable opponent in battle. Unfortunately for Monet, she would instantly lose against some of the strongest characters from One Piece.

As a Wano Country kunoichi and one of Oden’s beloved retinue of fighters and heroes, Shinobu has always been an astonishingly talented warrior. Although she largely relies on escape-based abilities, utilizing stealth rather than direct confrontation, Shinobu’s combat prowess cannot be underestimated. She claims to be a practitioner of the “Art of Bewitchment,” a jutsu technique that has helped the kunoichi turn the tide of many a battle.

Moreover, Shinobu is an excellent markswoman, as seen in her past and present. Her Devil Fruit, the Ripe-Ripe fruit, is theoretically overpowered, as it can technically “ripen” or “mature” anything she touches. This means that she only needs to touch someone like Big Mom to destroy them completely. The only problem is that Shinobu isn’t strong enough to land a direct hit on Big Mom.

With the help of a few attacks from Big Mom, Nami is eventually able to overpower Ulti, demonstrating that her new “glass cannon” status is well-earned. While using her Sulong Form, she instantly dispatched dozens of pirates under Big Mom’s command, even evading attacks from one of the Yonko’s strongest sons, Charlotte Daifuku.

Belo Betty wields what is arguably the most unique Devil Fruit in the Revolutionary Army, the Pump-Pump Fruit. It allows her to raise the morale of her allies to the extent that it enhances their speed and strength. Even if Belo Betty’s Armament and Observation Haki-related abilities can’t defeat her opponent, her fellow revolutionaries surely can. That said, there is no information on whether this ability has a fixed time limit.

10Ulti’s Pachycephalosaurus Makes Her A Formidable Combatant

Ulti consistently takes on multiple opponents throughout the arc, staving off their attacks and proving her impossible durability. Ulti’s Ancient Zoan-type Devil Fruit, the Dragon-Dragon Fruit: Model Pachycephalosaurus, gives her incredible strength.

Using the Pachycephalosaurus’ hybrid forms, she almost overcomes the joint efforts of Usopp, Nami, and several other pirates. Ulti also proved durable enough to overwhelm Luffy with a single headbutt, something the Straw Hat captain should have tanked. Were it not for the brief intervention of Big Mom, Nami’s fight-ending attack would almost certainly not have incapacitated Ulti. All things considered, however, Ulti doesn’t seem likely to surpass those ranked higher on this list.

That said, Sanji managed to subvert her expectations by actually calling on Robin to come save him, showing that Maria couldn’t see that far ahead.

Black Maria’s true strength stems from her Ancient Zoan-type Devil Fruit. The Spider-Spider Fruit Model: Rosamygale Grauvogeli allows her to take the form of an ancient spider species and ensnare her opponents in an immobilizing layer of silk. While the female Tobiroppo member ultimately falls short in combat against Nico Robin, it’s clear that she’s still a massive threat to the New World.

8Kikunojo Is A Samurai Warrior With Years Of Experience

One of the several trans-coded characters in One Piece, Kikunojo is a samurai warrior with several years of experience. Her strength isn’t showcased very much throughout the Wano Country Arc, but the fans see enough of her fights to know that Kiku is devastatingly powerful. As one of the Nine Red Scabbards, it’s taken for granted that she’s around the same level as her peers.

Kiku effortlessly manages to take down multiple pirates fighting for Kaido, including numerous Gifters. It reaches a point where even Luffy acknowledges her as a formidable combatant. Kiku ultimately defeats the betrayer Kurozumi Kanjuro, even if she nearly dies. Like all the strongest women in One Piece, Kikunojo is a highly proficient wielder of Observation and Armament Haki.

7Tsuru Belongs To The Eldest Generation Of Marine Officers & Warriors

Gauging the strength of older One Piece characters like Vice Admiral Tsuru can be a bit of a crapshoot. The anime consistently shows that the eldest generation (a group of legendary figures like Garp, Sengoku, and Silvers Rayleigh) still wields immense power, so one can only assume that Tsuru could go toe-to-toe with powerful pirates if needed. In addition, her tactical knowledge allows her to craft expansive projects and partake in critical political discussions.

Vice Admiral Tsuru’s Devil Fruit is a bit of a mystery. Still, considering her position in the Marines, it’s likely that the Wash-Wash fruit and her Haki-related abilities would make short work of most pirates. Even Donquixote Doflamingo exhibits caution in her presence, speaking to her unseen strength as a combatant. He maintains this respect for Tsuru even after his fall from grace.

6Stussy Likely Has The Strength Of The Original Buckingham Stussy

When Stussy first appears during the Whole Cake Island arc, she does not seem like much of a threat. However, this assumption quickly changes after it is revealed that she is a member of CP0. Later, Stussy’s backstory takes another turn when it is revealed that she has been working as a double agent in CP0, instead owing her allegiance to the mysterious Dr. Vegapunk.

To join the ranks of CP0 takes serious strength, but functioning as a double agent within the lethal group insinuates that Stussy is even stronger than many of her peers. She wields Observation and Armament Haki, withstands a blast of Conqueror’s Haki from Big Mom, and knocks out Lucci and Kaku, so only time will tell the limits of her abilities. Stussy has recently been revealed to be the clone of Buckingham Stussy, further highlighting her potential.

5Nico Robin Has Progressed Greatly Since Her Introduction

Thanks to Robin’s Flower-Flower Devil Fruit powers, she has slowly become one of the strongest members of the Straw Hat Pirates.

In her fight against Black Maria during the Raid on Onigashima, Robin exhibits a new “Demonio Fleur” attack that allows her to transform into a giant, devil-like spider. This quickly makes short work of Black Maria, which is likely a major factor in the Straw Hat Pirate’s massive new bounty. However, a few female One Piece characters could still defeat Nico Robin in a fight.

Furthermore, Devon survived a life-or-death battle royale against the other prisoners from Level 6, the most dangerous section of Impel Down.

This, in turn, guaranteed Devon a spot as an elite member of Blackbeard’s crew. She possesses the powers of a Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit that not only lets her transform into a nine-tailed fox but into other people as well. Although she was instantly petrified by Boa Hancock in their brief encounter on Amazon Lily, the Crescent Moon Hunter is sure to pose major problems for the Straw Hat Pirates in the near future.

3Charlotte Smoothie Is One Of Big Mom’s Three Sweet Commanders

Big Mom’s three Sweet Commanders are extremely strong, so Charlotte Smoothie is undeniably a very capable pirate. She currently possesses one of the highest bounties among female characters. As evidenced by her clashes during the Whole Cake Island arc, she can overwhelm opponents with only her superhuman strength and brilliant tactical mind.

What truly sets Charlotte Smoothie apart from her peers is her Wring-Wring Devil Fruit. Its powers allow Smoothie to wring out the liquids of anything or anyone with a single touch from her hands or sword. By absorbing these liquids, the Sweet Commander also increases her size and the potency of any attacks. Unfortunately, Charlotte Smoothie hasn’t taken part in many significant battles. Still, with the inevitable war between pirates and the World Government quickly approaching, fans hope to catch a glimpse of her abilities sooner rather than later.

As the leader of the Kuja Pirates and the only female member of the Seven Warlords, the Pirate Empress Boa Hancock embodies the Kuja’s belief that “strength is beauty.” Her overwhelming beauty just so happens to greatly enhance the effectiveness of her Devil Fruit powers, which allow her to petrify anyone who gazes at her with lust. This ability has zero effect on Monkey D. Luffy, making Hancock fall for him instead.

Boa Hancock can instantly defeat multiple members of the Blackbeard Pirates’ Ten Titanic Captains by turning them to stone — a feat that few characters in all of One Piece could replicate. Furthermore, she is the first female character in the series who was confirmed to be proficient in all three forms of Haki. That being said, one woman is considerably stronger than even Boa Hancock.

Charlotte Linlin, also known as Big Mom, is easily recognized as the strongest female pirate as well as one of the most powerful characters in One Piece. She knows virtually no equal. Even when she was five years old, Linlin was strong enough to throw a fully grown giant easily. Despite being in her late ’60s, she is still powerful enough to easily withstand a blow from Gear Four Luffy. In addition to Big Mom’s skilled use of all three Haki forms, she can manipulate souls thanks to her Devil Fruit.

The Soul-Soul Fruit’s abilities allow her to harvest souls from others and use them to create living weapons known as homies, the strongest of which are Prometheus, a sun-like being that manipulates fire, and Napoleon, a living sword that is durable enough to survive a clash with Kaido. As such, Big Mom is one of the few individuals worthy of the title Yonko. Compared to other women in One Piece, none hold a candle to her otherworldly might.
