Spoiler Alert!
One Piece chapter 1118 and 1119 spoilers

Eiichiro Oda surprised fans with the latest chapter of One Piece in which Jewelry Bonney is seen sporting a top-class Nika look. Does she look cuter than Luffy? No doubt about it. Is she stronger than the original Joy Boy though? That is still questionable.

The spoilers for chapter 1119 of One Piece attempt to expose the reality of Bonney’s powers. While a faction of One Piece fans are overjoyed to see the extent of Bonney’s abilities, others are slightly dissatisfied since it would be a hard strength to write around.

What is the limit of her power? Can she transform the things around her just as easily? Let’s find out the answers to all her queries.

Is Bonney’s Nika Transformation Fake?

In the spoilers for chapter 1119 of One Piece, the giants cheer for Luffy and Bonney. Mars on the other hand calls Bonney’s transformation fake. As Mars attacks, Luffy, Sanji, Bonney, and Franky perform a combined attack to defend against Mars. However, Bonney is exhausted soon after and turns back into a kid.

While it is not confirmed yet if Bonney can transform into the actual Joy Boy (Joy Girl?) or not, one thing is for sure: Bonney cannot hold the state for a long time. Unlike Luffy, Bonney never built up her defense against the gears one by one. So the Fifth Gear form is bound to tire her out soon.

During his early usage of Gear 4, even Luffy would shrink into a kid after exhausting his reserve. This state left him completely vulnerable and something very similar has happened to Bonney. But if the Gears work on Bonney just like they do on Luffy, does it mean she can acquire the power of any Devil Fruit she wishes?

Will Eiichiro Oda Let Bonney Steal Luffy’s Spotlight in One Piece?

The answer is a resounding no, Bonney can never steal the spotlight of Luffy, the main protagonist. When Bonney transformed into Joy Girl, fans were terrified of the effect she would have on the plot. In fact, if her powers were real, she would have been able to maintain her Nika state for a long time.

Bonney contributed to a single combination attack and her body completely gave up. This shows her lack of training and that it will be decades before she can catch up to Luffy’s level. Bonney received her power from experiments conducted by Saturn and not an actual devil fruit. It is possible that the lack of an actual fruit is what causes fluctuations in her powers.

Nonetheless, it is possible that while her powers allow her to imitate anything if she wishes strongly enough, it does not provide additional stamina to cope with the energy consumption.

While every One Piece fan was confused that Bonney would cause plot holes, Eiichiro Oda was slowly bidding his time with the chapter. Oda must have put a cap on her powers, otherwise she would have been too overpowered. Some fans even pointed out that Bonney has always become exhausted in between fights, and this is a pattern. All in all, Bonney has a long way to go before she can compete against Luffy.
