Cat Deeley was left feeling flustered during a discussion about stopcocks.

The This Morning presenter was joined by her co-anchor Ben Shephard and Dr Sara Kayat as the trio discussed various plumbing disasters, including Ben’s “blocked pipe” which is “ready to burst”. It comes as the ITV daytime programme prepares to help viewers at home who may be suffering from similar issues.

Ben said: “According to research, more than half of us have no idea how to stop a plumbing disaster. All three of us here, 100 per cent on this table. So tomorrow we’re going to be joined by an expert who will be answering your questions.” “Have you got a dodgy pipe at home?” Cat asked as she looked at Ben.

He responded: “One or two.” “So I’ve heard,” joked Cat, before adding: “Which is on the brink of bursting, do you know where your stop clock is?” “Not your clock,” interrupted Ben before asking Cat “What is it?” While struggling to contain herself she quipped: “Your stopcock.”

“It’s a stopcock, do you know what your stopcock is?” asked Ben to a confused Cat, before explaining: “I think you need to speak to your partner about that.” Cat replied: “Do I? Is it a plumbing thing?” But as she probed Ben more about what a stopcock actually does, he added to her confusion with another innuendo.

He said: “It stops water getting down the wrong bits,” as Cat continued to laugh before she cut him off as he attempted to ask her if she had never heard of a stopcock. A stopcock is a type of valve which is used to control a liquid or gas. “It is a plumbing disaster by the way, not what Cat’s referring to,” Ben confirmed to viewers.

Fans at home couldn’t help but laugh as they took to X, formerly known as Twitter. One penned: “Before you guys get any funny ideas, this is a stopcock lol,” before sharing an image of one. A second went on to type: “Thats the most personality Ben & Cat has shown since they have been presenting, more of that humour instead of being robotic, Ben is the king of banter but Cat is turning him into a bore, love the stopcock humour, more of that Cat & Ben. #ThisMorning.”

“Stop cock,” said a third alongside a laughing emoji. Earlier in the programme, the pair were joined by Britain’s Got Talent winner Sydnie Christmas who revealed she celebrated her victory at Wetherspoons.
