Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid couldn’t believe what she was seeing as producers showed a clip of Joey Essex kissing on Love Island.

The long-standing host was back for another packed show on Monday (June 10) alongside her co-host Ed Balls. Discussing the latest news headlines, the pair then spoke about ITV’s Love Island.

Talking particularly about Joey’s appearance on the show, Ed and Susanna later spoke to Joey’s pal, James ‘Arg’ Argent. But before their interview with Arg, a clip of Joey locking lips appeared on screen.

Startled by what they saw, Ed said: “Eww. Oh my God!”. Meanwhile, Susanna screeched: “Steady on! It’s seventeen minutes past eight, Joe!”

Trying to continue business as usual, Ed said: “We’re gonna find out what Joey- I mean snog and a half- what his best mate and former Towie co-star Arg thinks of that kiss! Kiss- he basically could have swallowed her head,” he added.

Seeing the presenters discuss the hit dating show, some viewers shared their reactions on social media site, X, with one person commenting: “Ed balls in his element now with his love island mate Joey Essex and Arg.” Another added: “Am I the only one who doesn’t watch Love Island?”

Former Towie star Joey stunned viewers when he became the first well-known celeb to take part in Love Island. Entering as a bombshell on day one, Joey turned the villa on its head when he decided to steal Samantha Kenny from Sam Taylor.

Although fans have questioned whether Joey has come on the show genuinely looking for love, the 33-year-old has insisted that he is ready to settle down. ITV execs have also confirmed that Joey is the real deal and that hopefully his story on the show could pull in ratings.

An insider told MailOline, that this opportunity will also give viewers a chance to see another side to the Essex native. They said: “Joey has signed up to Love Island for all the right reasons.

“He’s 33 years old and really wants to find someone he can settle down with, he wants a wife and to have children one day. Not many people know the real Joey, over the years he’s hidden behind his reality TV persona but being on Love Island will give him the opportunity to show his true self.”

Love Island airs every day from 9pm on ITV2 or catch up on ITVX.
