Love Island is set to return in a matter of weeks and is said to be getting a huge shake-up on launch night.

The hit ITV2 dating show will hit screens in June as a new set of singletons enter the iconic villa in the hopes of finding love. Maya Jama will make her comeback as host as fans get ready for their next Love Island fix. The show has already aired earlier this year thanks to the first ever Love Island: All Stars season – which saw past contestants return to the villa in South Africa for a second chance at romance.

Love Island will mark its eleventh summer season next month as the show returns to the Spanish Island of Mallorca. Fans are already excited that much-loved spin-off Aftersun is being revived for the upcoming series and ITV bosses are said to be taking the launch a step further.

Launch night will see Love Island air across ITV1, ITV2 and ITVX for the first time ever, according to The Sun. “ITV want to throw their weight behind Love Island and make sure it has a big, glitzy moment when the 11th series kicks off next month,” a source said.

“Showing it across every channel means creating what they hope will be a big TV moment. It shows there is still a real commitment to the format even nine years on.”

ITV launched its revamped version of Big Brother in a similar way last year, which took in an impressive 2.5million overnight viewers. Last year, the summer Love Island series attracted 1.5 million viewers from ITV2 and streaming service ITVX.

Love Island host Maya Jama stayed in South Africa for the duration of the All Stars series, meaning the Aftersun spin-off didn’t air.

However, she will soon jet between the UK and Mallorca to carry out her filming duties. ITV rejected the suggestion that Aftersun had been axed for the All Stars season and explained that the show was just being paused while the action was filmed in South Africa.

A spokesperson said at the time: “Aftersun is not happening in its traditional form as Love Island: All Stars is a separate series to Love Island. Instead interviews will take place outside the Villa so it looks and feels different to the regular show.”

The eleventh series of the dating show will launch on Wednesday 5 June and will run for eight weeks, according to reports. ITV are yet to reveal who will be taking part in this year’s series and insist the lineup will be revealed in due course. Maya is already getting into the spirit of the show and had King Charles baffled when she asked him about Love Island.
