Emmerdale appears to have teased who Tom King will target next on the ITV soap, with him left furious with one resident.

Tom has been manipulating and controlling his wife Belle Dingle for months, and recently he began targeting Vinny Dingle too. But it seems someone else is now on his hit list after he was called out at work over a grave error.

Tom nearly killed an animal at the vets, when he diagnosed a dog and told their owner they would need to be put to sleep without running any tests. It turned out his diagnosis of cancer was incorrect, and the dog had an abscess that needed draining.

The customer ended up raging at Tom and his colleague Vanessa Woodfield, and stormed out to go elsewhere. Vanessa and Paddy Kirk were mortified, especially knowing Tom had wrongly diagnosed a patient almost leading to their death without actually investigating the health issue.

Tom was seething as Vanessa tore strips out of him, and scolded him in front of the customer. She claimed Tom was still junior and needed to be mentored, before questioning his ability as a vet.

Tom almost lost it with Vanessa too before turning it all on her, claiming she wanted him gone. As he asked her about her comments about him “still learning”, Vanessa told him he was getting basic rules wrong, unable to believe he could make such a crucial error.

She also put her hand up as he spoke to stop him making matters worse, which left Tom screaming at her. As he accused her of humiliating him, she claimed he had a “fragile ego” and put him in his place.

It was clear by the look on his face that he was not going to let it go, and when he got home he slammed her to Belle, claiming he was “humiliated” and made to feel small. It seemed, knowing Tom and what he’s capable of, he wasn’t going to let it go easy, before putting the pressure on Belle to impress his colleagues with a dinner party.

But given his treatment towards Belle and what he did to Vinny when he “got in the way”, could Vanessa be next on his list? Given how dark and manipulative he’s been so far, she may need to watch out – or perhaps she will be the one to stop him.
