Britain’s Got Talent judge Bruno Tonioli was quick to apologise on Saturday’s show as he ‘broke a show rule’ to hit the highly-coveted Golden Buzzer again.
During the latest instalment, a dance troupe called Phoenix Boys aged eight to 19 dazzled the crowd with backflips, pirouettes and split leaps during their performance to Sam Ryder’s song Tiny Riot. Professional dancer and choreographer Bruno gave the routine a standing ovation before hitting the special Golden Buzzer so hard that he cracked it.
The other judges appeared shocked by his enthusiasm and that he had broken the rules by awarding them his second Golden Buzzer this series after previously giving one to a teacher, Taryn Charles, who uses music to help students with special educational needs. As he took to the stage, Bruno apologised for breaking the show rules with his second Golden Buzzer, and the dancers encircled him in a hug as he told them: “I know how hard it is what you do.”

Addressing the audience, an emotional Bruno said: “People don’t really know how hard it is to succeed as a dancer. The work that goes into it and the passion and literally you do it for nothing, you do it for love and I felt that.” Fellow judge Alesha Dixon also congratulated them and said she could see how Bruno recognised his own passion as a dancer within the troupe.
Former Strictly Come Dancing judge Bruno added: “What really touches people is when you perform from your heart. It’s the truth of your performance, that’s really what remains in people’s minds and you touched me and I think you touched everyone here.” At the start of the show, a comedy sketch saw Bruno reading a BGT rule book as he repeated: “I must not press the Golden Buzzer more than once, I I must not press the Golden Buzzer more than once… it’s not going to happen!”
It comes as Bruno hit the Golden Buzzer for Taryn Charles, who uses music to help students with special educational needs, earlier this series as she performed (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman by Aretha Franklin. The stunning performance received a standing ovation from the audience and all four judges, with Bruno hitting the coveted Golden Buzzer.

After taking to the stage, Taryn, from Egham in Surrey, said she wanted to audition as she loves to “make people smile” and she feels her voice is “all right”. She also said one of her students had come to support her and that she uses music to help her pupils, who have special educational needs.
Following the stunning routine, the audience chanted for Bruno to hit the Golden Buzzer to which he did as gold confetti fell all over the stage and a shocked Taryn fell to her knees and was joined by her student, their mother and Bruno on stage. Bruno admitted he had been initially concerned about her song choice, and he was comparing her with the version by Carole King, who co-wrote the song.
He added: “You made me forget about her version. You made it so much your own, with so much feeling, and your voice is unique and you’re a very, very special person my darling.” Taryn was left overcome with emotion as she broke down in tears over the amazing achievement, joking to hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly : “I think I’ve wet myself!”
