Helen Flanagan has admitted her daughter is “mortified” by her mum’s stint on Celebs Go Dating.

The Coronation Street star is hoping to find love following her split from Scott Sinclair, but her daughter Matilda is not so keen on her using a TV show to find ‘The One’. Speaking about doing the show, she told the Loose Women panel: “I was open-minded on the show. I love Celebs Go Dating. It was so much fun really – it’s a great way to spend the summer.”

Asked what Matilda thinks of it, she added: “She’s mortified! She’s just mortified! I think she finds me probably just really embarrassing. It would be really lovely to have someone but it would take someone really special for me to introduce them to my children.”

Helen previously confessed to The Mirror that she struggled not seeing her kids at Christmas and “felt so low”.

She said: “My kids weren’t with me on Christmas Day because I like to be really fair with my ex, and it sounds so silly because it was only one day, but it hit me really hard. The plan was for me to take them to Bali for New Year instead, and although I enjoyed it, I didn’t feel myself. I was struggling. I felt terrible when I got back, I was crying all the time, I felt so low.

“I don’t see it as a break-up, I see it as a divorce. We were together 13 years. But instead of processing it all I threw myself into work and shut off my emotions. I just went into survival mode. Then it came to the surface earlier this year and I was mentally and physically breaking down. It was really sad and very scary. I was seeing things and I felt like I was in danger all the time.” The star, who has now healed and feels in a much better place, spoke to help dispel the stigma around mental health.”

Helen previously confessed she wasn’t in the “right place” to find love until recently – and wants someone with personality.

“I didn’t feel ready at all [to do the show last year]. I absolutely wasn’t in the right place. But now we’ve been apart for about two years. I thought this would be really good for me and I’d really enjoy it. I go for personality, a connection, energy. And for what I feel I need at that time,” she shared of why now felt like the right time.

In a recent interview, Helen confessed she still loved Scott but she didn’t “like” him anymore. She explained on Charlotte Dawson’s Naughty Corner podcast: “I still love him very much, I care about him deeply, but we don’t like each other. We don’t like each other at all, we don’t get on. I do know that Scott – he’d never admit it – cares about me too and he does love me.”
