Good Morning Britain’s Ed Balls dropped a seven-word swipe at Susanna Reid as she dropped an ITV show update on Wednesday’s show.

During the latest instalment, Ed, 57, and Susanna, 53, spoke to endurance athlete Russ Cook, who also goes by the name ‘Hardest Geezer’, as he attempts to run to Germany to support England at Euro 2024.

However, the interview took an awkward turn when Russ accidentally mistook Susanna for Kate Garraway, leaving the studio in hysterics. Signing off the chat, Ed asked Russ for an update on his run the next day, saying: “What we need is a text overnight as we’re both presenting tomorrow.”

To which Susanna pointed out: “I hate to break it to you but actually it’s not me tomorrow morning…” this left Ed stunned as he responded: “Isn’t it? Oh, why?” before adding a seven-word swipe with: “Are you having the day off again?”

Ignoring Ed’s remark, Susanna continued: “It feels like we all need to get a tiny bit more organised” to which Ed quipped: “I’m here, I’m here, dependable!” It comes as Susanna was left gobsmacked over a Joe Swash confession on Tuesday’s show.

During the episode, Susanna and co-host Ed spoke to Loose Women legend Linda Robson about her first movie role in 10 years as part of British flick Bermondsey Tales: Fall of The Roman Empire. However, chat soon got onto Linda’s memoir book, Truth Be Told, where she let slip a rather unexpected confession about former EastEnders star Joe, 42, who is married to Stacey Solomon.

Linda was talking about how supportive Stacey was during a challenging time in her life. The star recalled: “We went to Ibiza and I had a proper meltdown and Stacey had to bring me home. Stacey Solomon. I am really good friends with all of them, Stacey, Joe Swash.” The TV star then added: “Joe lived, like, opposite me. Joe actually lost his virginity in my house!”

This prompted an awkward silence in the studio to which a stunned Susanna asked: “Okay… did Joe want you to tell a national audience that?” with Linda responding: “I think it is a well-known thing?” to which Susanna said: “Okay, right…” as Ed quickly moved things on.
