One person who won’t be on set any time soon is Colin Firth, who plays Bridget’s love interest Mr Darcy. Colin, who has starred in all three previous Bridget Jones films, won’t be making an appearance in the fourth one, however, Hugh Grant will be returning – despite his character’s funeral being a key scene in 2016’s Bridget Jones’s Baby.

The first Bridget Jones film follows the life of a 32 year old single woman who keeps a diary detailing her hopes and dreams, which take an unexpected twist when two men, played by Colin Firth and Hugh Grant, compete for her affections. The sequel, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, graced screens in 2004, followed by Bridget Jones’s Baby in 2016. The forthcoming fourth film is titled Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy.
