THERE are a lot of rules the Duchess of Sussex now has to abide by, some more serious than others.

And a number of the new protocols she’s had to learn apply when travelling… even down to what she has to pack.

Meghan previously revealed some of her top tips and items to take when going abroad on her now-closed blog, The Tig.

The main items she listed were a scarf, tea tree oil and dryer sheets.

She considered them her travelling essentials, but things have now changed and one item takes priority.

There is a rather sad reason why the new royal has to pack a black outfit for every trip she takes.

It is in case of a royal death when the Duchess is out of the country.

If there were to be a death in the Royal Family then the entire family will have to be dressed in mourning clothes, so Meghan would need to have one with her before her return.

This is out of respect for the member of the family who has passed away.

However, it seems that the Queen has not always abided by the same rules as Meghan.

Following the passing of King George VI, Queen Elizabeth – a known lover of bright colours – didn’t have a black outfit on her to wear on her return to the UK from Kenya.

But an appropriate black outfit was brought to her before she left the plane.

Unlike the Queen, the Duchess loves a black outfit, and is often spotted dressed head to toe in the colour.

This slightly goes against royal protocol as other members of the Royal Family such as Kate Middleton are rarely spotted wearing all black, apart from at black-tie events.

It’s been revealed that Meghan Markle was not the first girlfriend that Prince Harry took on holiday to his beloved Botswanian safari camp.

And apparently the pair told their wedding guests that they weren’t to use the loo, and should wear sanitary pads!
