Queen ‘disappointed’ with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Oprah interview as Charles heads to Wales cottage after talks

THE Queen was “disappointed” with Meghan and Harry’s Oprah interview, it’s claimed, as Charles heads to his Wales cottage to grieve alone after talks with his sons.

The Prince of Wales left after face-to-face meetings at Windsor with both William and Harry.

The men have started taking steps towards mending their rift, which has seemingly deepened following the interview given by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

However, in an apparent sign of the divisions between the family, William and Charles decided to meet Harry together – so no one’s words could be “misconstrued” afterwards.

Shortly after the meeting, the Prince of Wales flew to Llwynywermod in Llandovery on his own, MailOnline reports.

Meanwhile, it’s been revealed that the Queen has “made it clear” she stands with William and Charles over the talks.

And royal commentator Russell Myers told ITV’s Lorraine this morning: “Charles and William are still very hurt.”

Following allegations a senior royal made a racist comment to Harry before Archie’s birth, the Queen had released an official statement to say she was “saddened” – but that “recollections may vary”.

A senior royal insider told the publication: “Obviously after the worldwide fallout of the Oprah interview trust has to be rebuilt.

“There was no official wake after the funeral, but Charles, William and Harry took the opportunity to speak and catch-up face to face after many months apart.

“‘They were only able to spend a short time together outdoors given Covid restrictions and also without staff, including senior courtiers, overhearing what was being said.

“It was important to Charles and William that they were both there together.

“It means nothing spoken about can be misconstrued in the future.”

Kate Middleton – hailed as a peacemaker after she was seen chatting with the brothers after the funeral – also attended parts of the talks.

She joined the men at Frogmore Cottage, where Harry has been staying during his visit to the UK.

However, despite the talks, tensions remain, it’s claimed.

Another senior royal insider told the paper there’s “pain and hurt” on both sides and any reconciliation will “take place in baby steps”.

They said: “The Queen has made it clear to senior advisers that she is united with Charles and William, and was disappointed with aspects of Harry and Meghan’s interview.”

Mr Myers said on Lorraine today that Charles had hoped to spend more time with his youngest son.

“We were told last week there was a tight schedule. Meghan is heavily pregnant so he’s got to get back,” he said.

“Charles did want to see him but was told his schedule wouldn’t allow it.”

‘CHARLES WANTED MORE TIME WITH HARRY’

And he said Harry faces a “long road back” with his family.

“Tensions are still running very, very high,” he said.

“A lot of allegations were thrown out and it certainly wasn’t time to be settling those at the funeral.

“We do know Charles, William, Kate and Harry got together for couple of hours after funeral, but I don’t think anything was settled.”

Harry is currently believed to still be in the UK, although he’s said to be desperate to return home to pregnant Meghan and son Archie.

It’s hoped he’ll remain in Britain for the Queen’s 95th birthday on Wednesday before heading to LA later this week.

However, Charles has left for time alone at his £1.2million Welsh hideaway in the Brecon Beacons.

It’s understood Camilla remains in London as the prince “wanted to reflect alone” and respond to the thousands of letters sent to him after his father’s death.

Charles is also likely to be grappling with his next steps after Philip called him to his sickbed in the weeks before he died.

Sun royal photographer Arthur Edwards yesterday told ITV’s Lorraine Kelly: “Can you imagine that conversation in the hospital three weeks before, when he was summoned by Prince Philip to come?

“It must have been a lot of plain speaking there, what he was expected to do, arrangements for the funeral.

“I think the Duke knew he was on the last leg and he was briefing his son – ‘This is what you’ve got to do son’.”

And he said the Duke would have been clear on how he wanted the future to unfold after his death.

“The Queen is the head of state, but Philip was always head of that household and made all the big decisions,” he said.

And Charles and William will also meet for a major summit on the future of the monarchy.

The two will decide which royals will continue to work and what they should do.

Prince Edward and his wife Sophie Wessex – hailed as the Queen’s “rock” – are likely to take on more senior roles to fill the space left by Harry and Meghan.
